Now that Black and Gold Day is over, if one thinks that Deion Sanders is soaking up some leisure time, then it will be wrong. While the world celebrates Mother’s Day, Coach Prime just came up with some good news for Buffs fans.

Not getting his sight away from one big goal, which is to ensure that Colorado has an amazing season this time, the HC landed a good defensive back, as disclosed on MAGDOG TV. It is none other than former Vanderbilt and Miami safety Savion Riley. Right at the moment, the DB positions in Colorado look concerning, hence this move.

The YouTube podcast host did drop in some good news for the Buffs fans. He stated, “I can tell right now just by covering Colorado Buffalo coach Prime isn’t taking any days off including Mother’s Day weekend he has just landed another very good DB from Vanderbilt”. Known for having some aggressive defensive players, Sanders has had a sight on Vanderbilt for quite a while now. Finally, he could land safety Riley, who, after committing to Miami during the winter window of the transfer portal now commits to Colorado in spring.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder was an original three-star prospect from Kennesaw Mountain (Georgia) and had secured a spot in the top 60 safety nationally. Riley is a redshirt sophomore, which makes his entry more alluring for the Buffaloes, especially at a time when they have hit a low. Colorado moves back to negative two in the transfer portal for the year.

Impoverished situation in Sanders’ defensive back pool

Losing defensive backs has been a trend that Deion Sanders has had to grapple with this transfer season. On the second week of April, the Buffs’ top recruit from last year’s recruiting class, defensive back, Cormani McClain decided to move out of Boulder’s program. The Lakeland, Fla. native tried to be an immediate game-changer for the Buffs’ secondary.

Sanders held so many expectations from McClain that, as per the reports, he recruited DC Robert Livingston to be an advantage for the defensive back. But it came as a blow when he announced hitting the transfer portal, claiming that he wishes to be in “a real and great program”

Not just McClain; as another Colorado defensive back, Adam Hopkins also followed McClain to join the list of players who entered the portal. Hopkins was a 4-star recruit and made three appearances and had four tackles as a freshman.

Even though losing Hopkins probably won’t hurt Colorado much in a vacuum, McClain’s departure has been a costly loss for Deion Sanders. Hence, this Mother’s Day weekend, he took the initiative to do something big and sought the commitment of Riley.
