It was an ‘I really made it’ kind of night for Devin Hester. The night for which Hester has been knocking on NFL’s HOF doors for the past 3 years, it finally came to life. And boy, was it a thing to cherish! The tears making their way out of Hester’s emotional eyes on Friday night were evident. So were the emotional ones of Deion Sanders, who was proud to present the esteemed golden jacket to Hester. A complete circle on Deion Sanders and Hester’s relationship, if you say, since it was Sanders who had mentored Hester in his early NFL days, making his foundation strong enough to qualify for a golden-jacket-worthy career.

Deion Sanders engulfed Hester in a hug before accompanying him to the stage, where Andre Johnson waited to join the celebration on Friday night, where he was given the gold jacket. Meanwhile, his actual induction ceremony will take place on Saturday during the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Yet, all of it didn’t do justice to the years Coach Prime has spent alongside Hester. Deion Sanders wanted to share the occasion with his 4.9 million Instagram followers. So, Prime took to his social media to post a clip of the moment, with an inspiring caption.

“Dreams really do come true with the right work ethic, passion, people & purpose. I’ve always Believed in you and now they understand why. You’ve been a HOFer they just realized it. You’re the GOAT! FROM GOAT 2 GOAT!” Prime wrote for Hester. And that was just from the post. Prime also posted a story for his now-felloe HoFer, saying, “It hits diff when the person is different…Let that sink in.” Looking at the iconic career Hester had with the Chicago Bears, and as Deion Sanders put it, he had a HoF long-due.

Devin Hester’s career highlights

Over the 11 years, from 2006 to 2016, he has invested in the NFL, Hester has played with teams like Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, and Seattle Seahawks. But that’s not the best part of what he’s known for the most. It’s his records that make it all too special for him.

Hester holds the record for the most career return touchdowns, with 20 return touchdowns. Plus, he also holds the record for most punt return touchdowns with 14. If these two were not enough, the HoFer also had five return touchdowns in his 2006 rookie season and followed them up with six in the following season, making it the single-season NFL record.
