The Colorado Buffaloes are just a misunderstanding away from recruiting a new skilled WR. Winston Watkins Jr. of the First Baptist Academy, Florida, is a five-star wide receiver who was supposedly going to change the Buffaloes’ on-field fate. Not only has he recorded more than 800 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior, but he is also the nation’s No. 3 receiver.

He’s a prized class of 2025 high school recruit who looks up to Deion Sanders and is totally committed to the Colorado Buffaloes. However, things took an unfortunate turn, and Winston Watkins Jr. de-committed from Colorado on Sunday. Many questions from the fans arose about his de-commitment. They questioned why Watkins suddenly changed his mind and why he was leaving Coach Prime. And to everyone’s surprise, Watkins gave back a shocking reply.

Prime to Colorado on YouTube provided everyone with the answer they needed. The reason behind the five-star wide receiver’s de-commitment is out in the open. Winston Watkins Jr. put out the message saying, “I don’t know if Prime will still be there when I get there.” Now, that’s a huge misunderstanding. Coach Prime has rejected all NFL offers, and he is not going anywhere, leaving the Colorado Buffaloes.

According to Prime to Colorado, “A lot of times in recruiting, you’ll have coaches behind the scenes telling the players a lot of negative stuff. Well, he’s not going to be there. You saw what he said about, you know, the NFL and his son how he treats. It’s a whole lot of stuff these other college coaches put in these recruits’ ears to make them believe something.”

They also mentioned that Coach Prime is recruiting some of the best athletes to come and play for him and the Buffaloes. Sanders never said he wanted to go to the NFL or leave the Buffaloes. So Watkins, having that thought, is pretty much a misunderstanding. But if he has already de-committed from Colorado, what is the WR’s plan?

Winston Watkins Jr. has another plan

Considering the Buffaloes’ on-field struggles, Watkins has not completely kept the team out of his options. The young wide receiver has just decided to keep his options open and give more schools the chance to talk to him. Watkins stated, “I didn’t want to limit the opportunities I already have because when you’re committed, some schools try not to talk to you. I have a lot of schools. I want to make sure I’m still good with them.

That is indeed a smart plan for all students who are looking for a bright future. Watkins is just trying to make sure he has all his opportunities. Watkins is an excellent wide receiver and can turn a team around if he gets in. The young player still loves Colorado and Coach Prime but just prefers to stick to business at the moment. What do you think of his plan?
