The Colorado Buffaloes’ wake-up call is here before the 2024 season kicks off. And guess who performed the duties as the motivational speaker? No, this time, it was not only Deion Sanders. Instead, the Buffs HC introduced Prairie View A&M Panthers HC coach Leonard “Bubba” McDowell, who did the honors.
And, of course, Bubba had to walk the roster through their last season. Even though it came as brutal, nudging the painful memory of the 4-8 narrative, it will ensure that the players would make no mistake this time. Already, there have been a lot of disciplinary problems within the roster. Bubba was introduced to the squad by Coach Sanders to motivate the Buffs.

The first preseason fall practice took place, and Well Off Media captured what exactly transpired during the sweating-off sessions. As posted on July 31, initially, it was Deion who interacted with the Buffs, giving them the much-needed pep-talk on consistency. Coach Prime then handed off the baton to Coach McDowell, aka Coach Bubba Dub, whose meet and greet with the players was a bitter vocal tonic. Even though he started on a positive note, “How y’all players doing today man? Ask yourself did you get better today?” it took him a split second to reveal his natural side.
“I’m going be real with y’all. Last year y’all were trash,” the Coach fired a volley at Deion’s Buffs. He clearly stated his outlook toward the coming days, “Last year is gone, man. It’s all about right now man. Yesterday gone…today is what matter, man. You got to get better each and every day man. Listen to y’all coaches man make sure y’all in them classroom learning man.” With this, Coach Dub holds a positive outlook ensuring that the players know where they went wrong last season. While they can’t control their fate, they can ensure they are more disciplined, unlike the past few months.

Deion’s roster embraces stricter control
Back in April, an email reached Deion. It was from a CU professor who alerted Coach Prime to the players’ disrespectful behavior. A part of the email read, “I have never felt so disrespected in my 10 years of teaching. Students do not follow even minimally, and it slows down my class so much.” On the field, on another occasion, Deion faced the lack of attention that prevailed among the players when Coach Prime got all frustrated and shouted, “Why are we having a problem with getting the call? Why are we having a problem? Why we talking?”

But this time, as far as obedience is concerned, the Buffs HC has nothing to worry about. After all, the Colorado OL, Kahlil Benson, has taken the reins to put the players on the right track. On June 27, during the training session, the player was responsible for bringing out the best potential in the players by pushing them to the edge.
Impressed by Benson’s talent in keeping a tight ship with Deion’s roster, Uncle Neely appreciated his efforts. “To win and go to the NFL and if he has to check your as* in the process he will check your as* in the process,” assured Neely. When Benson is on the squad, laziness is kicked out. Will this change in attitude on the Buffs roster help them to flip the script this season? Do share your thoughts.
