Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes recently bagged their seventh high school recruit for the 2024 season. And it’s a multi-position player believed to deliver to Coach Prime’s expectations. And the most interesting part is that he is a Mathis!
Colorado already has two Mathis in their football team – CB coach Kevin Mathis and his receiver son Kaleb Mathis. And now the younger brother of Kaleb Mathis is all geared up to rock along with them in Boulder. It’s fascinating to learn that this new addition even gave way for the Buffs to break an FBS record.

On Saturday, CB Kole Mathis officially announced that he would join Coach Prime in Boulder. And in his recent appearance on his brother Kaleb Mathis’ YouTube channel, he gave an interesting reply to how he feels about being coached by his CB coach’s father. He said, “I know it’s going to be extremely hard because his standards are overly high, and trying to meet those standards will be challenging. But I refuse not to meet them.”
The 5’8 140-pound college fresher also calls Deion Sanders his uncle saying, “I’ve been around him my whole life. He’s been there since I was born so I see him as an uncle and just another father figure in my life.” Coach Prime already has two of his sons Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders playing in his team. With Kole Mathis joining his father and brother at Colorado, it holds the FBS record for the most sets of siblings on a team.
