Analysts are surely not buying into Deion Sanders’ “last chance” as a coach narrative. Now that this season marks the last lap of his son Shedeur Sanders and dual-threat Travis Hunter, who will be boarding the NFL ship next year, Coach Prime will not have anything to look forward to. However, on the Locked on Buffs podcast, the analysts feel otherwise.

It’s Julian Lewis who will be keeping Deion Sanders’ coaching role afloat. The current USC quarterback is very likely to fill Shedeur’s position. Thus, Coach Prime will have a new assignment to take up. This assignment will be special to his heart since JuJu is his long-time pal.

Father factor likely to work in Colorado’s favor to gain Lewis’ commitment

The Buffaloes are already scouting to find the perfect replacement for Shedeur. Will the Buffs get lucky in their endeavor? It seems so. As all eyes are on JuJu, the USC QB is scheduled to make his visit to Boulder, on June 21. With less than a week left for the big day, Scott Procter pinpoints the high chances of Lewis’ third visit turning out to be in Colorado’s favor. But why Buffaloes? JuJu’s father, T.C. Lewis will be the matchmaker. Procter comes up with some important insights, “Dukes tells me that Coach Prime and Julian’s father talk about more than just football. They have a real kind of close friendship and that could just be the turning point that gets Juju to flip from USC to Colorado”.

But no matter how strong the friendship is, there must be something that gained Lewis’ father’s trust. Procter further highlights, “He’s seeing what coach Prime has been able to do with Shedeur both as a father and as a coach being able to you know kind of build him up for this moment”. This trust will play in Coach Prime’s favor who after Shedeur and Hunter will not get an opportunity to prove his worth as a coach.

However, Julian’s inclination towards the Buffs HC shows a different story collapsing the ‘Last Chance’ narrative as he will now start molding Julian like Shedeur. As per the speculations, JuJu is on his way to becoming the top QB in the 2025 draft. Hence, there is no better guide than Deion Sanders. Julian too seems to count on Deion Sanders while making the transition.

What made Lewis change his outlook towards Deion Sanders?

Now that the Buffaloes are in a much better place than before, Deion Sanders deserves all the credit. Before landing his foot on Bulder, Julian could not help but confess how all of a sudden his perception of Coach Prime changed. “Yeah no, it’s definitely crazy right now, like I was just talking about it and I was like Colorado before last year, I mean I would have never looked at him, smiled at him, none of that stuff but uh yeah. Coach Prime, them going there really boosted their whole situation,” claimed the USC quarterback.

Maybe all this while Julian has been unsure about committing to the Buffaloes. The June visit will mark his third time visiting the Buffs HC. His last trip was in March and earlier once he was spotted working out sporting a Buffs towel. But all the indications turned out to be false. Now that his father’s emotion is involved, there may be a chance of JuJu surrendering to Coach Prime’s tutelage.

It’s a win-win situation for both parties. While Julian will be receiving Shedeur-like treatment from Deion Sanders, Coach Prime too will be getting a chance to prove his coaching talents. Now that Shedeur will be transitioning into the NFL, will JuJu be able to replace Coach Prime’s favorite son?
