Coach Prime is finally getting the credit he deserves for being a mentor. This time, Colorado Buffs wide receiver Cordale ‘C5’ Russell is singing his praises.

Last year, Russell played for the TCU Horned Frogs. They lost a close game against Colorado, 45-42. After that tough loss, Russell decided to transfer and joined Coach Prime’s team at Colorado.

On August 4, Russell discussed his struggles in a Reach The People Media podcast. He said, “I was given a second chance… and I appreciate Coach Prime for that.” Russell said, “He really understands me and where I come from. He told me he’d help me get better… and I feel like I’ve changed a lot since I got here.” Now, Deion Sanders Jr. saw the video and liked it. He wrote, “Bro came a long way, no lie,” giving his salute to the Buffs’ prodigy.

Russell’s journey to Colorado wasn’t easy. “The nationality of being a South Dallas you either be in the streets, rap, or you know work a job,” said the South Dallas native. But Russell always wanted to play football. He got his chance at TCU, but things didn’t work out. It seems like he was pushed to leave and find a new team. That’s when Coach Prime stepped in.

Coach Prime saw Russell’s potential and gave him a chance. Now, Russell is an integral part of the Buffs’ wide receiver group. With Travis Hunter leaving for the NFL next year, Russell will have even more opportunities to shine. And with other talents like Jimmy Horn Jr. and LaJohntay Wester on the team, Russell can keep improving.

And it looks like Coach Prime has been getting flowers for his good deeds lately. He’s not only hyping current players but also being celebrated for aiding former greats.

Coach Prime mentored the HoF winner

Coach Prime is making waves again, this time by spotlighting another player’s career. This time, we’re talking about Devin Hester, a former Chicago Bears kick returner and wide receiver.

Hester was all choked up when he got his gold jacket at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 3. His CFB journey started with Miami Hurricanes, where he met Deion Sanders through a safety friend, Ed Reed. Deion who was amidst the end of his NFL career, soon became Hester’s advisor and mentor. It’s believed the WR even copied Prime’s famous touchdown dance! Soon, the incredible plays he made over the decades made him a finalist for the Hall of Fame last year, but he didn’t make it in. Deion was furious as he said, “How can Devin Hester not be a Hall of Famer? This is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Devin Hester changed the darn game.”

And now, the full-circle moment: Deion presented Hester with his Hall of Fame jacket. Hester shared a post saying, “This moment wouldn’t be perfect without you dawg, I love you, man, 🫶🏼” and tagged Deion. Deion’s role as a mentor is getting huge. He’s like a lighthouse, guiding players to success. And it looks like his light is shining brighter than ever now.
