Deion Sanders has had a long-standing rivalry with Colorado State and Nebraska. But the tension between the Buffaloes and the Rams is especially personal, fueled by their coach Jay Norvell. Last season, things escalated when Norvell commented on Deion’s flashy style, saying, “When I talk to grown ups, I take my hat off and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.”

Clearly not a fan of the comment, Deion fired back with, “You was talking about my mama, dawg.” The tension even carried over to the field, with Deion hyping up the crowd before the game, declaring, “What is it today? It’s Personal!” Fueled by this extra motivation, the Buffaloes emerged victorious in a nail-biting matchup.

Fast forward to this year, and the September 14 rematch is already generating a ton of buzz. While the Colorado Buffaloes are busy rebuilding their roster, the Colorado State seems to be gaining momentum. Recently, even NFL legend Michael Vick gave a shoutout to CSU’s new defensive back, Chris Jackson, on his X handle. Vick added, “Looking forward to the Sept 14th game vs @CUBuffsFootball have a feeling @CollegeGameDay will be there. Last year’s game was [fire].”

While it’s expected that others would hype up CSU, it’s interesting that Deion Sanders Jr. seems to have joined Vick in trying to stir things up. Bucky reposted a comparison between CSU’s Tory Horton and NFL star George Pickens, adding his commentary: “Bro is [fire]… I can’t even lie to you.” The video showcased a size and speed comparison, highlighting Horton’s impressive top speed of 23.1 MPH, the fastest among WRs in the nation. This rivalry between Coach Prime and Norvell became even more intriguing, with Deion Jr. seemingly throwing some support behind the Rams.

Can Deion’s Buffaloes defeat CSU at home ground?

Last year, the Colorado Buffaloes dominated their clash with the Colorado State Rams, leaving the Rams seemingly down for the count. While Deion Sanders dealt with a wave of player departures and recruited new transfers, CSU quietly focused on strengthening their roster, particularly adding depth to the cornerback position with talented players like Jackson. Looks like this year, the tables have turned. Last year’s game at Folsom Field saw the Buffs’ crowd fueling the “it’s personal” rivalry, but this time, the Rams hold the home-field advantage as the game will be played at their Canvas Stadium – the first time since 1996.

Despite the Rams’ home turf advantage, Deion Sanders seems unfazed. The Buffaloes’ offense appears strong with quarterback Shedeur Sanders, running back Charlie Offerdahl, and wide receiver Travis Hunter leading the charge. The defense is also improving, with safeties Ben Finneseth and Shilo Sanders providing reliable support. So, while the Rams have the home crowd behind them, the Buffaloes look poised to pull off some victories with their revamped team.
