Woah! Did you see this coming?

There’s yet another allegation against the Colorado Buffaloes head coach. No brownie points for guessing — the complaint came from the ex-Buffs who hit the transfer portal. However, Deion Sanders Jr. is here in Coach Prime’s defense. Bucky joined his father in dismissing the charge that Deion Sanders refused to hear a “no” from players regarding attendance at the Prime Weekend Lil Wayne concert. Coach Prime’s alleged dictatorial streak was the “last straw” for several Buffs. How could Deion let this charge hang in the air like that? Hence, shortly after the news broke, he took to Instagram, stamping it as “one of the best lies.” To protect half-brother Shedeur came Deion Jr.

The 2023 season, from start to finish, was not rosy for some players as they were handed pink slips. It is not known whether this allegation came as a repercussion. But what is known is that Coach Prime reportedly threatened to dismiss anyone who skipped the concert. What worsened the situation was the belief that it was a part of Deion’s big game to increase the popularity of his son Shedeur and his new single, Perfect Timing, before the overcapacity crowd in Boulder. A source told AthlonSports’ Steve Corder, “When Coach Prime told us we all had to be there to support Shedeur as a rapper, they were not happy at all. To be honest, it was nothing but a huge distraction and Daddy Ball was being played.”

But Deion Sanders refuted the allegation. Instead, the Well Off Forever Instagram page shows the head coach dismissing the claim in its entirety, “This is one of the best lies I’ve heard. God bless u and I pray u sleep well tonight because we are. Lawd JESUS.” His son Bucky, surprised at the fact that any kind of mandate existed before or during the concert, backed up by his claim: “[B]ro this is hilarious. They basically said he forcing people to listen to his son’s mixtapes. Dawg this is next level funny”. Coach Prime and his son hardly seem to care about these allegations, particularly after the success of the concert.

Lil Wayne concern was a big hit

As promised, the Black and Gold Weekend was no less than a game-changer. The main attraction was the Lollipop star, Lil Wayne. Coach Prime gave it a thought before bringing in the rapper since Lil Wayne’s music has been the soundtrack to countless victories and locker-room celebrations. From the NBA to NFL stadiums, his anthems resonate with athletes and fans alike, and Sanders was desperate to bring that energy to Boulder. To witness the energy, the tickets were priced at $48, but due to increased demand, some of them were sold for as much as $170.

Before heading to the concert, fans knew Shedeur would be up there performing on the stage since a week earlier on being coaxed by Bucky, the Buffs’ QB confessed, “I’m performing. I just can’t be one-hit wonder up there, though. I can’t only have one song and get off stage.” But little did the fans expect Shedeur to sing the opening song and drop his latest hit, Perfect Timing.

Months later, this performance was then taken up by the ex-Buffs to lodge an attack on Deion Sanders, claiming that it was only to raise Shedeur’s stakes in the popularity index.
