A lot is happening in Colorado; this time, it’s not about Deion Sanders saying, “We coming.” Since Coach Prime made the Eli Manning remark about Shedeur Sanders’ 2025 NFL Draft situation, the Buffs have been under constant scrutiny. And the player departures this spring didn’t make things any easier for the program.
Recently, the Colorado Buffaloes faced criticism from various outlets after Xavier Smith revealed his shocking treatment in Colorado, where he claimed nobody even tried to get to know him. On top of that, Shedeur Sanders also received hate for calling Smith “mid.” More drama brewed as Deion Sanders defended his QB son, saying he’s the top 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Despite the brewing hate, Colorado has taken a resilient stance. Deion Sanders Jr. expressed this in the latest Well Off Media episode on YouTube, stating, “The Colorado Buzz, it’s Colorado vs. everybody. We stand on business today and all the supporters and all the family members stand on business with us. So, it’s a beautiful thing.”

Deion Sanders Jr.’s statement echoed Jim Harbaugh’s mantra when he was suspended from the sidelines after the sign-stealing allegation. In response to this incident, the Michigan crew, from coaches to players, embraced the Michigan vs. Everybody mantra by turning the slogan into apparel to fight against haters. Similarly, the Colorado community, united in their support for the team, may have some innovative strategies in store as they navigate the judgment stemming from Smith’s claims.

Former Buffs DB Xavier Smith had trouble with Deion Sanders starting last fall when he told The Associated Press, “We all have expectations of a coach, and I just feel like those expectations weren’t met.” And now, he has revealed a brutal experience in Colorado where he claimed that the HC “never even tried to get to know [him].” According to what Smith said of Coach Prime, as reported by The Athletic, “He was destroying guys’ confidence and belief in themselves. The way he did it, it could’ve been done with a little more compassion.”
In response to this savage revelation, Shedeur Sanders wrote on X that he doesn’t remember Smith saying, “Bro had to be very mid at best.” Deion Sanders Jr. also commented on The Athletics post, saying, “That’s why we run our own media and control our own narrative.” While there is no bottom line regarding which side is correct, we hope this incident doesn’t hamper prospective players from joining Coach Prime and his program.
