Deion Sanders’ words struck a chord — yet again. This time, it’s Coach Prime’s singer friend, E. Dewey Smith, who was moved by the Buffs HC’s “praise-bombing.” And what did Sanders get in return? Another supporter rooting for the big weekend. Now that the entire Boulder has basked in the JuJu fever, the Senior Pastor also wants the Buffs’ Lewis dream to come true. How could he not want that because E. Smith is the man behind our favorite Neon Deion. He, being Sanders’ spiritual advisor, knows how badly Coach Prime wants to land the five-star QB.

Even though Sanders hardly has any time from his busy schedule now that Lewis is in Boulder, Smith is one lucky person. Sharing an old picture of them, Coach Prime went over the top showering praise and wrote, “@edeweysmith My man of God.” Within 30 minutes, came a reply from his long-time friend. From the re-post, it seems that Sanders’ love has turned Smith into one big Lewis fan. All that Deion’s pastor friend tries to do with his tweet is to motivate Coach Prime, knowing very well the amount of stress he is going through this weekend. Smith wrote, “Let’s Go @DeionSanders!!!!! We’ve got another BIG weekend my friend!!!!”

This morale boost will definitely be a game-changer in calming Coach Prime down, as it came from a friend with whom he has shared a heart-to-heart connection for 20 years now. Two decades is indeed a long time to know every bit of Sanders. As Smith once said about Deion, “At the core of this person is someone who will help anybody. At the core of the person, he’s somebody who wants to see everybody succeed.” It’s time for the Buffs HC to be on the receiving end and his singer friend is doing the honors.

All that Deion needs right now is some motivation and Smith got this covered. His tweet has indeed reached Coach Prime, who will now gather up all his energy to fulfill the promise of another big shot and make his friend proud, as he is also with Deion in this JuJu race. Time has rolled, but their equation has passed the test of time.

Smith’s role as Deion Sanders’ confidant

Back in 2003, when Smith was a pastor of Beaulahland Bible Church, on one lucky occasion, he met Deion at a conference, and BOOM! Their friendship worked, and they never looked back. Smith is now the pastor of House of Hope in Atlanta, but he still finds the time to mentor Coach Prime. Having full confidence in his friend’s abilities, the singer once said, “He’s going to be successful wherever he goes because he’s Deion “Primetime” Sanders, and people are praying for him and believe in him and know his heart.” This feeling seems to be mutual.

Sanders has found Smith by his side at every turn of his career. In one of his interviews with 13WMAZ’s Marvin James, the Buffs HC shared his thoughts about the pastor,  “He’s definitely a chosen man of God for me for a time like this. I need him, and I love him, and I thank him for his transparency as my man of God, and I respect the heck out of him, God Bless.”

This time, too, has been no exception. E. Dewy Smith arrives at Deion’s service. In case at any moment while chasing Lewis, Coach Prime questions his abilities or his program’s, he will have his friend’s tweet to look into for that extra kick while shooting for the stars.
