Deion Sanders always looks for new ways to give his Colorado Buffaloes an edge. This time, he’s taking a page from the Toledo Rockets’ playbook. Yep, you heard that right; it’s not from any Power 4 team.

The Toledo football team was among the first to use high-tech urinals to track player hydration last year. The locker room urinals have special sensors that check pee color. It’s like a bathroom report card!

Now, Coach Prime is bringing this same idea to Boulder. He’s all about player wellness, and staying hydrated is huge for preventing injuries. So, the Buffs are getting their own pee-analyzing toilets. The August 3 episode of Thee Pregame Show Network revealed how the new “hydration test” works for the Buffs. A Colorado staffer explained, “They [players] go to bathroom number one, they do it in a little sensor in the actual urinal. It brings either yellow, green, or red.”

This small device in the urinal gives real-time feedback on a player’s hydration level. Dehydrated urine is more concentrated, leading to different readings and, thus, different color codes. The staffer explains, “Green is a good teammate, really hydrated. Yellow average teammate, not really hitting the hydration as much as you want. Red bad teammate.” This push aims to protect Buffs players from “soft tissue type injury.”

Now, the team recommends drinking 12 to 24 ounces of water if you’re yellow and double that if you’re red. And green means you’re good to go. Coach Prime is turning “drink water” into a new level of motivation. It’s all part of his plan to keep his players healthy and ready to win.

Deion Sanders’ holistic plan for his Buffs

Deion Sanders is all about taking care of his players. Before this year’s fall camp, he dropped a big surprise: a food makeover. The Buffs head coach wants to ensure his players are getting enough nutrition. Instead of the usual breakfast buffet, he brought in a personal chef, Solomon, to whip up something special.

The chef laid out the spread: eggs, oatmeal, bacon, and all the breakfast goodies you can imagine. But it wasn’t just about the food. “We’re talking about 25 grand worth of fresh stuff here, and it’s gone in two days,” the chef said. “We’ll probably spend around 200 grand just for camp.” Yep, Coach Prime is serious about feeding his team right.

It’s not just about the food, though. Deion wants his players to bond over meals. He thinks it’ll help them connect as a team. He’s taken away their phones to make sure they’re connecting. He bought these fancy black boxes that lock up your phone tight. Deion wants his players to bond well by talking face-to-face. It looks like he’s building a stronger team for the Big 12 season ahead.
