Jason Brown kicked off his show with a strong attack on Deion Sanders and Colorado’s social media strategy. “Colorado, Deion filming everything, putting it out there, blinging, checking diamonds….what do you think about it?” he asked. Defensive tackle Tank Johnson countered Brown’s criticism, arguing that the online buzz is crucial for attracting attention in a social media-driven world. “They’re waving their flag in Boulder and saying we’re in the game as well,” Johnson stated, defending the team’s marketing strategy.

Brown wasn’t convinced, criticizing Deion’s lack of “humility” and implying the social media focus is just for his kids’ benefit. However, Tank offered some much-needed “lifeline support” for Deion with his take amidst the backlash. Meanwhile, there’s no denying the Buffs’ online presence is making them viral.

Coach Prime’s marketing magic lifts Colorado football

The Colorado football team found the spotlight in 2023 when Deion Sanders, aka “Coach Prime,” became head coach. Their disappointing 1-11 season in 2022 was quickly overshadowed by a mediocre 4-8 record in 2023. But it wasn’t just their improved play that made the difference–it was the power of “Coach Prime’s” brand. He’s a master marketer. Remember when a rival coach mocked him for wearing sunglasses indoors? Deion’s response was, “They just helped my business.”
