Can Deion Sanders' leadership turn the CU Buffs into a powerhouse, or is it just wishful thinking?

Deion Sanders’ 57th birthday is a real blast! On top of being blessed with another year in his life and receiving the warmest wishes from countless well-wishers, he received the best surprise from his oldest daughter. Deiondra Sanders played on perfect timing to give birth to Baby Que on her father’s birthday on August 9. And now that he’s officially a grandfather, he makes an unselfish birthday wish.

Most people would wish for personal blessings on their birthday, but the Buffs HC is different from most people. He’s someone who takes pleasure in seeing young people rising to excel in life. Deion Sanders’ wish is truly noble and it’s about his players whose futures he’s preparing for.

In a new YouTube episode on Well Off Media on August 10, the Buffs gathered around to celebrate Deion Sanders’ birthday inside their training facility. They surprised their HC with a birthday cake on which was written, “Happy Birthday Coach Prime.” As he lit his candles, Deion Sanders spoke about his wish. He said, “My wish is that you all become professionals. Not just professional athletes, but professionals. You become wonderful fathers, wonderful men, wonderful women as well.”

After wishing well on his players’ personal success, Deion Sanders also emphasized a strong season. He challenged the Buffs, “Soar to the heights that you want to soar to that your work ethic would allow you to go to this season. So that’s on you to win.” Will the Buffs be able to fulfill the birthday wish of their HC?

Colorado’s revamped O-line sparks confidence

After a crushing 4-8 misery last season, Deion Sanders took it upon himself to fix the hole in the offensive line which has become a priority. During his speech at the 71st Annual Fall Sports Media Day on Friday, he showed his confidence in the team’s additions, particularly the O-line, sparking hope for a better record this season.

This year, a lot of new faces were added to the Buffs’ roster after more than 40 players from the 2023 roster left the program. To counter the outgoing players, Deion Sanders brought in 42 transfers and 13 HS or junior college football players. The goal is to protect Shedeur Sanders, and 5-star OT Jordan Seaton, along with the 10+ O-linemen, are going to make sure their QB is protected. Their season will kick off with an opener against North Dakota State on August 29. Stay tuned for what will unfold once the Buffs put themselves in real action.
