From saying Deion Sanders is “irrelevant” to saying “Deion Sanders just exudes exactly what that community is all about”, you gotta admit that Paul Finebaum has been going wild with his random takes. Finebaum has been quite open regarding his hate for Coach Prime and the Buffs. From throwing hard jabs at the team on SEC Network on July 16th and even going on to claim that “they won’t make the playoffs” he has started to make this season feel quite rough for Prime and his boys before it’s even begun.

What even made things more weird is the fact that Finebaum went on ESPN First Take on July 22nd to go ahead and claim that the Trojans will do better with Deion instead of Lincoln Riley. He argued that Deion would do much better with his personality at USC and also help in lifting the program. Oh, how the tables have turned. When the video of Finebaum endorsing Sanders was posted on July 22nd on X by On3, fans not only had quite an angry reaction to Paul but also directed their anger towards Deion himself. On3 took to X to share the video with the following caption: “Paul Finebaum believes Deion Sanders would be the perfect replacement for Lincoln Riley at USC if the Trojans move on.” A fan was quite brutal with his take regarding this scene. “I won’t be renewing my season tickets if this happens,” they wrote.

But why, though? From what we have seen with all the recent updates that have been coming out regarding Buffs and Deion, it is safe to say that Coach Prime has made significant progress in revamping the team with better linebackers and a solid defense for Shedeur Sanders. In some dream world, if he does move to the Trojans, as much as fans would hate agreeing with Finebaum, Deion would make a difference with the value he carries. Now, let’s see what other fans had to say about this whole shebang.

Hate for Prime and Paul

A fan started it off rough. “What makes Deion a good coach? haven’t seen that yet,” they mentioned under the post. Well, for starters, Deion took a program that had nothing and took to a $280 million valuation in his first year ALONE!! Yes, they had a bad season in 2023 but they still got the potential No.1 QB (Shedeur) on the team along with the best college football player (Travis Hunter). Another fan took a jab at Finebaum. “How does Finebaum still have a job?” he wondered. Yeah truly, from saying that the Texas-Oklahoma deal was the only greatest thing in SEC history to directly saying he would “fire” Lincoln Riley, that man has taken major shots this year. However, he is only doing his job.

Another harsh criticism came towards Finebaum. “Dudes a troll. Finebaum tries to make a mockery out of anything in college football that isn’t SEC. This has ZERO chance of happening. Why would Coach Prime leave Colorado for USC? And how is Lincoln a failure at USC? USC & Colorado will both contend for conference championships,” he mentioned. Yes, Deion Sanders moving to USC won’t be happening anytime soon. He has a lot at stake in Colorado. Coming to USC and Colorado for the championship? Well, that’s debatable because the Crimson Tide, Bulldogs, and Longhorns are still up there.

Finally, Deion was the last one to take the last shot. “Yes, please hire him- guarantees they’ll be terrible for another decade,” a fan wrote. Yes, Coach Prime did mess up last season because he probably got his image and ego to get to his head. But right now, in 2024? that man is doing everything possible to ensure this season goes well for the Buffs.
