Dylan Edwards is not your average college athlete. The Colorado Buffaloes RB had a stellar freshman season in 2023, becoming the first player in school history to record more than 250 yards rushing and receiving in the same year. But that’s not all, he was a two-sport standout in high school, excelling in both football and track.
The former Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year was the winner of the Under Armor All-America Game fastest man competition in 2022, clocking a 40-yard dash time of 4.41 seconds. He excelled over some of the top athletes in the nation including Nyckoles Harbor. And now he’s here to make his HC Deion Sanders proud with his recent track venture.

Colorado Buffs RB Dylan Edwards, whose name is synonymous with speed, just made a name for himself at his very first track race. While everybody is happy for him, none can match the pride that Coach Prime Deion Sanders has for his rising star as he attends the track event to show his support and the young freshman didn’t let him down.

In the recent Colorado track event, 17 runners participated. Dylan Edwards, who joined Colorado in 2023 is a multi-sports star who excels in both football and track. The fact that he finished 8th in the race is an impressive accomplishment that’s bound to only improve in the coming days.

The connection between Dylan Edwards and Deion Sanders
It’s no secret that Coach Prime cares for each one of his players but sometimes, a few standouts share deeper bonds as is the case of Dylan Edwards. The young RB and his family have had a long-term connection with Deion Sanders from when he was nine. This is a reason why he flipped from Notre Dame to Colorado in 2023.

Packed with talent, the promising athlete has a bright future at Colorado. At 5’10 weighing 180 pounds, his build may be slight but his speed is unrivaled. Edwards will continue to boost himself both on the field and the track and will surely be a Buff force to reckon with in the coming seasons.
