Deion Sanders is injecting a “we are going to win” mentality into the Colorado Buffaloes as they gear up for a crucial season. After a disappointing 4-8 record last year, Sanders is confident in his squad, featuring star players like Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. He believes the team’s offense is better now as they have new players and can overcome past struggles easily.
However, Sanders also knows that his team’s past performance is still garnering some criticism. Thus, wanting to shield his players from negativity, the head coach brought in two friends — a three-time Super Bowl champion and a former 49ers head coach — to boost the team’s spirits.

In a recent video from Well Off Media, Coach Prime fired up the Buffs in the locker room. He brought in former 49ers coach Steve Mariucci, aka “Mooch,” to speak with his players. Mariucci started with praise for Deion, “I love what you’re doing here man!” He and Deion go way back to their days at the NFL Network. After that introduction, Mooch got real with the Buffs. “The whole world is watching you guys… some people are on your side and saying this is really exciting and some people are just kind of hey rooting against you,” he said. He followed it with funny stories about how Deion taught him to dance, making everyone laugh.
Then came former Broncos star Mark Schlereth, calling himself a “fan of this team.” He echoed Coach Prime’s “faith” and quoted a Bible verse, “Treat others as one is more important than yourself,” thus giving the Buffs a “mission statement” by which to live. Now, with all this inspiration from legends, it’s up to the Buffs to turn those words into wins on the field.
Can Deion Sanders’ team turn hope into success?
Deion Sanders has brought excitement back to the Buffaloes, and fans feel pretty optimistic now. The head coach isn’t afraid to talk about the highs and lows and what the Buffs need to do to keep winning. He’s got big plans, and with a more robust roster, you can bet this team smells victory. Coach Prime also recently said, “You can smell the meal in the kitchen,” stating things are coming together nicely in Boulder.
However, this time, it’s not just hype. Star players Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders want to be top picks in the 2025 Draft. This means we’ll see them play even harder, pushing the Buffs’ offense to improve. Coach Prime also brought on Pat Shurmur as Offensive Coordinator to help the team reach its potential. Meanwhile, the defense is still getting stronger under DC Livingston, and they are getting ready for some tough games ahead. Can this rebuilding Buffs turn all this positive energy into wins?
