“I believe in you. You believe in you. You’re a pro,” that isn’t just the everyday pep talk that Deion Sanders gives in his team meetings. Coach Prime has reserved these types of comparisons only for the best, the creme de la crop, in his team. Seems that Deion Sanders has found the player who he will be honoring with. Trevor Woods, the DL headlining the Buffs defense this season, received the honor.

“I can’t think of nothing you do wrong. The offense. Great attitude. Great teammate. Maintained yourself. Never complained. That’s what he always do. He’s where he’s supposed to be. Never talking back. Never been undisciplined. Ever dressed out of order? Ever not given everything in the weight room? That’s what we’re looking for,” Sanders said proudly, positive that Woods was a fine football talent, set to go far in the league and making it until becoming a pro.

Sharing these words of Coach Prime, The Pregame Network had some additional praise for the exceptional LB. “When Coach Prime said he’s bringing his Louie Luggage with him, Trevor Woods was sitting in the meeting room with a Louie backpack,” read the tweet of The Pregame Network, alongside the clip of Deion Sanders praising Woods.

And it is not just at the beginning of the fall camp that Deion Sanders is saying so to motivate his team. No, Deion Sanders has always been a huge fan of the unwavering commitment Woods makes to Colorado every day. Neither has Coach Prime shied away from putting that proud feeling in words.

Deion Sanders puts Trevor Woods’ talents alongside the best’s

Woods has been preparing all year long to headline Coach Prime’s defense in the middle. Being called ‘the smartest player on the team’ by the DNVR, Woods had two interceptions for the first-team defense on Monday and added a pick-six later on Thursday. This is precisely why Woods deserves every bit of praise he is getting. Even if it is getting compared to the iconic Brian Urlacher.

I really think this young man is going to be the next Brian Urlacher,” Sanders said at the Big 12 Media Days. “I think he’s going to take the transition from safety to linebacker and be dominant.” Woods did transfer to LB, given the commitment he has been showing toward the program. Per The DNVR, Woods weighed 198 in his first game at Backer and now, at the start of the fall camp, his weight was reported to be 217.

With him “way bigger and way stronger now”, as Woods puts it, Deion Sanders can rest assured about their D-line this season. Now all that is left is for Woods to charm the CU audience with his magic.
