Is EA Sports deliberately low-balling Travis Hunter, or are they just out of touch with real talent?

Travis Hunter is seriously a beast on the field. We can’t ignore that he’s pulling double duty as both a wide receiver and a cornerback and crushing it at both positions. Just last season, he snagged 57 receptions for 721 yards and five touchdowns on offense. Of course, who can forget to mention his defense—three interceptions and five pass breakups! People are calling him the next big thing. Now imagine the surprise when EA decided to reveal his rank for CFB2025. Well, Deion Sanders surely couldn’t believe it.

In his appearance on an interview with NFL on 11th July. Deion and Shedeur Sanders talked about Hunter’s rating. “Travis should be 99, shouldn’t he? Like who else? There’s nobody called the best receiver and the best corner in college football. They don’t even make sense.” And then Shedeur jumped in with, “Nobody but him.” Hunter’s been nothing short of phenomenal, and seeing Deion and Shedeur go to bat for him like that just shows how much they believe in his talent.

But here’s the kicker—EA Sports didn’t give him that 99 rating. Can you believe it? They actually gave him a 95! He’s right behind players like Will Johnson, Will Campbell, and Caleb Downs. Travis, on the other hand, had no complaints regarding the game and is quite ready to stream it live once it releases. He posted on his Instagram story that if he gets 500 subs on Twitch, he will be streaming the game.

While Coach Prime made his stance very clear regarding Travis, let’s see what he had in store for Shedeur. Deion couldn’t hide his excitement when the game’s trailer dropped, showcasing both Shedeur and Hunter. He even took to social media, posting, “Can’t wait to see how y’all got my boys looking,” emphasizing his eagerness to see the virtual representation of his star players.

Deion’s reaction to Shedeur being featured in the game was a wholesome father moment. However, what’s kind of sad is even with the skill Shedeur possesses with his on-field knowledge and good relationship with his teammates, EA decided to drop him at No.17 on the top 100 list. Well, Coach Prime can at least rest well knowing that one of his gems, aka Hunter, is on the top 10. And with the release date just around the corner, let’s hope all of them enjoy playing the game as much as we as fans have enjoyed judging the top 100 list.
