Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are gearing up for a media frenzy in the coming months, with some highly talked about rivalry games looming. The one generating the most buzz is the September 7th clash against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Last year, the Buffs dominated Nebraska 36-14 at Folsom Field, their home turf. However, this year’s matchup takes place in the heart of Husker territory — Memorial Stadium. This shift in venue, along with the emergence of Nebraska’s freshman quarterback, Dylan Raiola, has analysts expressing mixed views.

On the “On3 podcast,” the host noting the new addition Raiola, stated, “Playing them [Nebraska] early in Dylan Raiola’s second career collegiate game” could be tough. However, it’s better than facing him “later on the season where he’s gonna be a much better passer.” Raiola, the coveted 5-star recruit, lived up to the hype by completing 16 of 22 passes in their spring game, putting him statistically close to Shedeur’s 10-of-14 performance in the Buffs’ spring game.

Thus the host feels Nebraska playing “In their floor”, coupled with “the too much talent.” in the roster is something to watch for. However, pressure also rests on the Buffs’ shoulders. “Deion needs this” as proof that things are moving forward. The host added, “After winning four games last year having it be an utter disaster….anything less than six wins to me would be a disappointment.”

While Nebraska boasts rising talent like Raiola, the Buffs have their own arsenal. The host acknowledged that with playmakers “like Webster and Horn and Hunter on the outside with Shedeur Sanders like, that’s a tough cover in the league.” He also predicts “Colorado is gonna do a lot” but warns against complacency. Last year’s victory can’t be a crutch. This time, it’s a head-to-head battle with a revitalized Nebraska.

Shedeur Sanders and buffs face a tough test this September

The matchup between Colorado and Nebraska is a crucial test for Shedeur Sanders and his team. Former Colorado quarterback Joel Klatt called it one of the most impactful games of the year, even ranking it a “top 10 game” to watch. “This game will either reignite Coach Prime Mania or prove Nebraska is a real contender,” he said.

Now, both teams haven’t reached a bowl game in a decade, so both have something to prove. The Buffs have generated excitement by showcasing practice sessions in Boulder, highlighting the potential brewing under Shedeur’s leadership. However, Nebraska has flown under the radar. Could freshman QB Raiola be their secret weapon? While Raiola faces long odds compared to Shedeur’s impressive 70% completion rate, a knock over is not out of the question. Looks like Raiola vs Shedeur will be more interesting to watch and is crucial for both to set the winning tone for their teams.
