Deion Sanders can be very understanding and empathetic when he needs to, which is one of the reasons why his players love him. And the Buffs CB Nahmier Robinson’s situation calls for support from the 56-year-old head coach. Robinson is the son of former NBA player Nate Robinson, who revealed that he hasn’t had much time to live.
When Nate Robinson was playing with the New York Knicks in 2006, he was diagnosed with high blood pressure. This led to the deterioration of his kidneys, and he was later diagnosed with renal kidney failure and didn’t have long to live if he didn’t get a kidney. In a video clip, Deion Sanders called Nahmier Robinson to the sidelines and asked about his well-being, saying, “How you doing? If you need us let me know. Alright? I’m proud of you boy. Keep balling man.” His one-on-one moment caught the attention of the press.

Aside from addressing Nahmier Robinson’s situation, Deion Sanders also touched on his hiring of Warren Sapp and his take on 5-star CB Cormani McClain leaving for the transfer portal. Coach Prime doesn’t regret hiring Sapp because of his innate ability to connect with players. He said, “Coach Sapp is a phenomenal communicator… He knows this game and he’s able to communicate that in his passionate way… I’m just really glad and thankful that our young men are getting that communication on a daily basis.”
As for McClain’s departure from Colorado, Deion Sanders has nothing but best wishes for him despite the heat between them in their first season. He said, “I want the best for him. I really do. I want that kid to soar. I want him to man up. I want him to be the best possible athlete and human being he can be. I want him to fulfill all those dreams that his mother and he desire. I really, really do.” The way Coach Prime values another human being is commendable!
