Is Shedeur Sanders' attitude hurting his game, or is Cam Ward just being overly critical?

The rift between the two friends continues to get deeper. Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward look to be involved in yet another war of words, despite seeming to have buried the hatchet a few weeks ago. In a heated conversation with each other, the spirit of rivalry is much alive between the two talented QBs, who are yet to be pleasant towards each other.

Shedeur Sanders of Colorado, Cam Ward of Miami, and Kyron Drones of Virginia Tech are the top three quarterbacks who are currently the favorites in the community. During this offseason, the trio is training under the same QB coach, Darrell Colbert Jr. Thus, the essence of rivalry is coming out in its absolute form as Ward and Sanders can’t stop one-upping each other, drawing comparisons to their heated exchange in Miami during training as well.

The viral interaction between Ward and Sanders made headlines when the Miami star was heard taunting Shedeur for taking breaks and not playing well enough. The conversation soon took a turn when Ward made a harsh attack and said, “I don’t think y’all got better today. I don’t think you got better today. I did.

A bystander on the field blamed Ward for being the reason why they were all late for practice, to which Ward replied, “I got better. I might have been the reason we were late, bro, but I got better.” Since then, it has become evident that the duo isn’t really fond of each other and is supremely competitive when it comes to football.

Ward was trying to claim that Shedeur isn’t a very good quarterback, and on the Colorado QB’s debut episode of the ‘2Legendary’ podcast, the two reignited their flame for each other. Shedeur pointed out that he does more workouts with Darrell and said, ” I’m working out just cuz you did just cuz you did two workouts but I consistently have two more workouts than you. Darell’s out there with me all the time.”

Ward, unfazed by the comment, replied, “That’s cool. I still do the same workout without Darrell.” Thus, this constant tension over who’s better seems to be the foundation of their relationship, which will only end when the time for the NFL Draft comes. However, despite their faltering chemistry, Ward has talked about how he thinks that the three of them will be among the top picks next year.

The trio is spending all their offseason time training together since they believe these sorts of sessions will lead to securing better spots among the big names in the league. While this is nothing but a means to improve their performance for the upcoming season, Ward thinks of it as more than just a training camp. As per the Miami recruit, the friendly rivalry pushes them all to be constantly better, which is the sole reason behind his and Shedeur’s frictional friendship.

During the ACC Media Days, Ward expressed enthusiasm about being one of the top names in the draft and said, “We haven’t said that to each other, but I know we all think it. At the end of the day, I feel like we can all put ourselves in the best position to be first-round picks or top-three-round picks. We help each other just from a competitive standpoint.”

Thus, the trio share quite a tumultuous relationship as they’re each trying to be the best QB in the 2024 class, and who knows? Maybe this sort of rivalry will be just the thing that lands them all on elite NFL teams next year.
