Going by the speculations, Coach Prime held high hopes for the player and was on a mission to form a dynamic duo with fellow five-star Travis Hunter. However, he failed to live up to the expectations as he has been publicly called out by the Buffs HC for not putting in his best efforts.

McClain’s interesting ride in Colorado

McClain was the prize of Coach Prime’s first recruiting class. The former five-star was the No.1 ranked recruit in the Class of 2023 as well as was the highest-rated signee at Colorado. But soon he failed to live up to the HC’s expectations. Earlier in an interview, when Sanders was questioned what is the one piece of advice he has for Cormani, Coach Prime replied, “Study and prepare. Be on time for meetings, show up to meetings. Understand the scheme.”

Keeping into account Sanders’ piece of advice, he worked on himself and gave rise to satisfactory results. He recorded 13 tackles and two pass breakups teaming up with Hunter and his performance has been impressive so much so, that Coach Prime later confessed, “I’m really, really proud of Cormani. I really am.”

Having three more seasons of eligibility in his hands, Cormani McClain will become one of the most coveted players in the spring transfer window. The cornerback becomes the No.3 uncommitted player trailing behind only tackle Kadyn Proctor and lineman Jason Zandamela.
