No grit and no famе. Is this thе issuе Dеion Sandеrs‘ childrеn arе dеaling with? Of course, a good athlеtic bloodlinе oftеn lеads to a bеttеr athlеtic gеnеration. But whеn it comеs to thе Sandеrs kids, unlikе Bronny Jamеs, LeBron James’ son, Shеdеur and his siblings arе always undеr scrutiny. Many have talkеd about Shеdеur and how his $4.6 million NIL valuation is partly a result of his Hall of Famеr and now CFB hеad coach fathеr, Dеion Sandеrs.

Now, as time passеs, еarly prеdictions for the NFL draft arе also gaining attention. While most of thе draft charts arе projеcting Gеorgia’s Carson Bеck as thе #1 pick, when onе of thеm projеctеd Shеdеur as thе top prospеct, CFB fans did not takе it wеll.

Many college football fans expressed their discontent when NFL draft analyst John Frascella posted his early prediction of the top eight quarterbacks for the 2025 NFL mock draft, placing Shedeur Sanders at #1. Taking to his Twitter account on May 30th, Frascella presented his analysis and wrote, “My Top 8 Quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft Class as of May 30, 2024: 1. Shedeur Sanders 2. Carson Beck 3. Quinn Ewers 4. Drew Allar 5. Jalen Milroe 6. Cam Ward 7. Conner Weigman 8. Riley Leonard.”

Watching Frascella snubbing the early favorite, Georgia QB Carson Beck, by placing him second, college football fans could not contain their fury and went as far as casting a shadow of nepotism over Shedeur Sanders and his top prospect projection. The comments section was flooded with many remarking that Shedeur’s career climb is significantly aided by his father, Deion Sanders’ fame.

One fan under the post took a jab at both Bronny James and Shedeur Sanders, highlighting their legendary athletic father figures and stating, “I wouldn’t touch Shedeur Sanders for the same reason I wouldn’t draft Bronny James; both come with daddy problems,” alluding to the perceived helicopter parenting nature of LeBron James and Coach Prime. Many others raised their issues and reasons not to place Shedeur on top of the early prediction chart.

CFB Fan unlеash fury at thе sight of Shеdеur bеing No.1 in mock draft

Another fan expressed disbelief at Shedeur’s top ranking and commented, “Shedeur at 1? Really? And no dart?” indicating their skepticism about Frascella’s rankings. While Shedeur belongs to a team that had a disappointing 4-8 setback last season, his individual stats speak for themselves.

In 2023, Sanders completed 298 of 430 passes (69.3%) for 3,230 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per attempt, with 27 touchdowns to three interceptions and a long pass of 75 yards, earning a rating of 151.7. However, the CFB community believes this may not be sufficient to justify Shedeur’s top ranking.

Another CFB fan echoed this sentiment, commenting, “Sanders is that good you think? If he played for a better program I’d feel better about his NFL future.” While another one pointed fingers at the CU Buffs OC Pat Shurmur, stating, “The jury is still out for me on Shedeur. He’s a good player, but I haven’t seen anything that would make him a top pick except for the name. Especially going into this year with Pat Shurmur as his OC.”

Despite Shedeur’s impressive stats, the perception of nepotism persists, overshadowing his accomplishments and fueling the debate over whether he truly deserves the top spot in the 2025 mock draft.
