CU Buffs CB Cormani McClain is a star defensive player in Deion Sanders’ football team. His field talent has attracted Coach Prime and the Buffs and enticed other programs like FSU and Miami. But while he has denied transfer rumors, fans are still skeptical, especially after a fellow defensive player left Boulder.
Recently, rumors swirled after he reposted safety Myles Slusher’s post announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal on his IG story. He also commented, “Get $,” leading fans to speculate if he intends to enter the transfer portal for a potentially better deal. His absence from the Buffs’ practice for a considerable amount of time didn’t help appease the rumors. But now the rumors are put to rest.

Amid transfer chatter, the Buffs DB coach Kevin Mathis put the rumors to rest. In a recent IG reel uploaded by CU Colorado Buffs, Mathis revealed McClain’s status: “Cormani came back the other day. He was out there running today. He got to get back in shape. Once he does that, once he finishes his running, he’ll be back in football.”
When Cormani McClain entered the 2023 season, he didn’t have a great time, as he appeared in only nine games and started only four. But according to Buffaloes Wire’s Jack Carlough, he could have a chance to “be a full-time starter this fall” given “how much talent Cormani McClain owns.” Given that he is a five-star recruit, perhaps his offseason preparation will put him in a suitable position in the upcoming season.

Will the 2024 season end Cormani McClain’s bad luck?
It could be bad luck because of McClain’s subpar performance, given the hope that was built around him as a 5-star player. And it’s not just bad luck on the field because he met an unfortunate situation this year in January. The defensive star met with a minor accident in Boulder in January.

Per TMZ Sports, “Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Cormani McClain – the highest-ranked recruit in Deion Sanders’ 2023 CU class – was issued a citation last week after he was involved in a car crash in Boulder.” According to the report, his car “slid into another vehicle when trying to brake for a red light.” However, no major damage was done, and no injuries were reported. Now that he’s back on the field with the Buffs, we hope this season will invite success as he prepares to find chemistry with the recruits.
