Should the CU Buffs stand by Cormani McClain despite his suspension, or is it time to move on?

It’s a drama-filled time for Cormani McClain. This top recruit from the 2023 class seems to be attracting negative attention to his new team, the Florida Gators.

McClain started earlier this year with the Gators after ditching Deion Sanders’ team, the Colorado Buffaloes. The Gators were pumped to get the 5-star talent, but it seems there might be more to McClain than meets the eye. Reports have been swirling for a week now that McClain is having trouble again. He’s apparently been missing or showing up late to practices and workouts. Some rumors even suggested he “got kicked off” the team by coach Billy Napier for behavioral issues.

Hold on a second, though! Social media went crazy saying McClain was definitely out, but then McClain’s agent came out and said that’s not true — he’s still on the team. And on the July 23 DNVR podcast, hosts RK and Jake cleared the whole mess. They think McClain might be suspended, not kicked out entirely.

“I think he’s suspended. Don’t know that, I just think!” Ryan Koenigsberg says. He adds, “People who are saying he’s off the team are kind of right. The coaches who are saying he’s not off the team are kind of right. I’ve seen this happen a million times with players who are kind of in a limbo state.”

Now, no official sources have confirmed he’s gone. Even Coach Napier says things are “blown out of proportion,” and McClain is doing just okay. Meanwhile, the Buffaloes’ loyalists are having a field day with all this drama, throwing shade at the cornerback online.

Should the CU Buffs stand by Cormani McClain despite his suspension, or is it time to move on?

Have an interesting take?

Cormani McClain left Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes, throwing some serious shades at them. He noted he wanted to be part of a “real and great program” and not play for “clicks.” Some fans even sided with him since the Buffs had a rough 4-8 season and didn’t utilize his talent much. But now it seems McClain might have similar issues at his new school. Reports show a pattern of bad behavior, making Coach Prime look wise for letting him go. Deion’s close friend, Uncle Neely, even hinted on a podcast, “If the same thing happens at another place, maybe the problem wasn’t your location. Maybe you’re the problem and you keep moving the problem because the problem is you.”

Even CU Buffs alum Matt McChesney agrees. In his Zero 2 Sixty podcast last week, he ranted, “This kid is so dumb that he could have been the other side of Travis Hunter.” The CB could probably have taken Hunter’s spot once the two-way star left for the NFL next year. So, did McClain mess up, or did Colorado dodge a drama bomb?
