“This is your year girl,” is the united echo in Colorado this season for their very special Peggy Coppom. Throughout her 99 years, Miss Coppom has stayed faithful to the one and only Colorado Buffaloes. You would catch her cheering for the team despite all the ups and downs they have seen since she started cheering for Black and Gold. November 2024 would mark the 100th year of Miss Coppom’s life, another year for her filled with hopes and dreams to see her favorite team, the Colorado Buffaloes, get a step closer to the National Championship.

While Deion Sanders and Co. may not promise Miss Coppom a full-blown National Championship, they have promised her some as her early birthday presents. As Peggy Coppom gears up for a personal milestone in her life, the Colorado teams want to make it memorable for her. For this, they have three plans they aim to bring to Miss Coppom this season.

Taking to Instagram, CU insider Laura Levy revealed the three surprises Deion Sanders and Co have lined up for her. The first one was a promise to make it to the playoffs.  “@cubuffsfootball @deionsanders @deionsandersjr is going to get her to the playoffs in epic fashion,” wrote Levy, revealing their first surprise. It resonates perfectly well with Deion Sanders’ “We Comin’” motto.

Next, Peggy Coppom soon got a picture with another Heisman champion from Colorado (hinting at the robust preparations for the Heisman underway in Colorado). “Maybe someday soon, I’ll get to take a photo of her with another Heisman! 🙂 God bless our Peggy. The greatest fan in college sports,” Levy continued in the caption. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are already named among the top Heisman contenders this season. So, this was not as big of a surprise as the one about to follow.

Colorado still has hopes for Julian Lewis

This was a surprise for not only Miss Coppom but also for the whole Colorado fandom. Colorado still hopes for Julian Lewis to come back. Most people were positive after Miss Coppom’s sincere request from Julian Lewis of her “getting tired of being a good loser.” Her wanting “to be a good winner, so come on out here and play for us and help us win,” along with a 100-year-old Colorado burger joint naming a burger after him, that Lewis would flip to Colorado.

Although Lewis showed no signs of switching to Colorado after the ‘JuJu’ Lewis-focused official visit weekend, hopes began to dwindle in CU. However, Levy posted her third surprise for Miss Coppom (which, honestly, was a surprise for everyone!).

“She will turn 100 years old in November. And, if all goes well, maybe @julianlewis10 will soon give us the best CU recruiting news in years,” wrote Levy, dropping a major news bomb about Julian Lewis committing to Colorado. Will he transfer after the season or before it? Only time will tell.
