How about an appetite-boosting show that leaves you hungry? While the Colorado Buffs sweat it out on the field, have you ever wondered what they’re fed behind the scenes? It’s a whole lot of mouth-watering cuisine for the Buffs out there!
A lot changed with Deion Sanders’ arrival at Colorado including a change in the Buffs cafeteria. The first major cafeteria change is his overseeing the rise in the quality of food services for the players. He also ensured that the executive chef was listed on the CU Buffs’ website. With his acknowledgment, the Buffs are now able to enjoy healthy and delightful meals.
On August 6, Thee Pregame Show uploaded an episode featuring CU Chef Carl Solomon as he guided viewers through the Buffs’ meal plan in their second week of fall camp. Before flaunting the diverse items, Solomon acknowledged the sponsor for the healthy meals saying, “Coach Prime said this morning, thanks to Rick George our athletic director. He’s investing in this. So we’re taking full advantage and trying to give you guys the best.” So what’s the best that the Buffs are in for?

As the chef said, the Buffs indulge in a variety of high-quality scrumptious meals with little bits and pieces of changes every other day, starting with a burrito and tacos treat. There is Spanish rice, carrots, and peas cooked in a nice flavorful broth, black beans with lots of onions, garlic, and a pepper medley, refried beans, classic grilled steak, ground beef, a breast chicken, and chili lime shrimp. For a veg touch-up, there is corn salsa, veggie queso, green salsa, red salsa, guacamole, pico, lettuce, sour cream, and churros. It’s a whole mixture of flavors and colors and this is what the Buffs are getting every day at practice. But with Coach Prime serious about the cafeteria ethics, this isn’t unforeseen.
Deion Sanders’ emphasis on eating healthy
Carl Solomon wasn’t just recognized by being added to the Buffs website. He also lauded him and called for a pay raise. In an interview with Sports Dissected on May 14, Deion Sanders said, “Because as much as our staff is a difference maker to this university, he is a difference maker to this university. He’s a true game changer.”
In another setting, Deion Sanders advised his players to drop their phones in a box while eating in the cafeteria. He said the main goal behind it is to talk and get to know each other better. But eating without focusing on the phone makes the meal more wholesome and satisfactory. As AD George previously said, “In Deion’s case, he came in here and his style is different than any coach we’ve had and it’s gonna push people a little bit.” How true! It indeed inspired him to sponsor the Buffs’ extravagant meal plan!
