Looks like Deion Sanders got his players all primed and proper. Wondering why? The senior defensive back in the Colorado Buffaloes’ roster, Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, came up with a speech. But it was no ordinary speech — it gave goosebumps. It seems that the DB knows the assignment too well. And it’s evident from his speech what he wants from his teammates. It’s simple! All Silmon-Craig wishes for other Buffs is to quit shedding tears over petty things. This was enough to woo Coach Prime, who always wants his guys to be swagged. The impressed Buffs head coach then gave the player a shoutout on Instagram. Why wouldn’t he? After all, Silmon-Craig has been ranked in the Top 20 on the list of impactful players.

It seems Silmon-Craig has taken notes from Deion. For a change, the DB switched roles and developed the much-needed vocal tonic ahead of the 2024 season. Laziness and procrastination are the two evils that have plagued the Buffs locker room. However, Deion is lucky enough to have someone like Silmon-Craig, who is grateful. And it’s time for the Buffs HC to give the player his due credit as he wrote on IG posting the DB’s video, “This is what REAL PASSION & GRATITUDE Sounds like @camronsilmon7 @db3_tip Cam has balled out for us since his Jr. year of Highschool! I love him 2 Life and he’s a PRO on and off the field.”

But what made Coach Prime so emotional? Silmon-Craig’s speech captured his passion. His teammates complaining is a BIG NO NO for the DB who otherwise urges them to take hold of the big chance. He started with, “The best opportunity of our life dog. We don’t realize that, but we sit out here and cry about stuff that we’re not supposed to be crying about. I hate to see these people not have this opportunity and they want it so bad.”

As Silmon-Craig highlights, it takes players their blood, sweat, and tears to get this chance to be part of Deion’s program. That being said, they should not be taking things lightly. Instead, “You gotta love football first,” claimed the DB.

Silmon-Craig’s professional and personal milestones

Silmon-Craig is a leader himself. After the speech, he rose further in Deion’s eyes and is projected to be an integral piece of the Buffaloes’ secondary this season. However, this is not the first time he gets to bask in the hype. Last season, too, he took up the role and came off with flying colors as he recorded 32 tackles all by himself as well as logged a season-high nine tackles during the matchup against in-state rival Colorado State.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig's speech just set the CU Buffs on a path to greatness?

Have an interesting take?

For the Colorado Buffaloes 2024 season, the DB has been ranked as the 20th impactful player. After jumping from Jackson State, he came with three interceptions that ended as the team best tying with the Buffs two-way star Travis Hunter. His presence in the Buffs’ defensive backfield kept the program’s pass coverage from falling apart.

Not only did Silmon-Craig impact the field, but he also got some tremendous breakthroughs in the NIL landscape. This was definitely a proud moment for the player who gushed on the Reach The People Media podcast, “I had the chance to buy my mom a car and that was big to me; probably the biggest thing I’ve ever done in my life.” It all happened because football was his ultimate devotion.
