Travis Hunter: The best WR and CB in college football—agree or disagree?

All the praise, all the flowery words, everything that Deion Sanders has said about Travis Hunter so far. Where would it all take them? It will boost Hunter’s performance, sure, but what about the other players on the roster? Colorado alum Matt McChesney, on his podcast Zero 2 Sixty, broke down aspects that come with the head coach channeling all his praise on a single-star player, when he has a whole team to take care of.

The statement ‘Deion Sanders calls Travis Hunter best WR and CB in CFB’ did not sit well with CU alum McChesney. “I can see his numbers maybe not being great at corner because no one wants to test him, but I don’t think they can get away with that because the rest of the secondary is pretty nice. So if you’re going to act like the rest of the guys can’t play, then they’re just going to pick you off and make you look stupid,” McChesney said, delivering his unfiltered verdict, which also added another sizzle to the ongoing controversies surrounding Deion Sanders.

The former Colorado players who have left the program have claimed several things against Deion Sanders, including him favoring his kids and Hunter more. McChesney also dissected how all of this, in turn, would affect Tavis Hunter.

“So yes, he’s by far the best corner in college football. His receiver skills are insane, his ball skills are insane, and his acceleration is nuts, but he’s still growing mentally as a player. And like any mistakes that he made last year or things that he probably didn’t do right or whatever, he’s really hard on himself and like coach Prime coaches the out of him,” the Zero 2 Sixty host said, explaining how all the praise of Hunter is indirectly pressurizing Hunter into being more perfect, especially when Hunter is standing at such crucial crossroads of his life. This statement becomes even more important, considering the revamped CU roster including Ryan Staub and Water Taylor III, who strengthens the team’s offensive significantly.

However, if we come back to the other star WRs of the team, Will Shephard will be taking the reigns from Xavier Weaver. On the other hand, LaJohntay Wester is known for his insane speed. All these additions make the Buffs’ offensive strong and something to be scared of this season. But it can only work with Hunter’s magic, the team, to no one’s surprise, has to work together.
