Coach Prime's revenge—Will Deion Sanders silence Lane Kiffin's trash talk on the field?

They are at it yet again! One wrong move and the chorus of the critics will not stop targeting Paul Finebaum. He hardly fathomed that one “irrelevant” comment about Colorado would enrage the masses so acutely that he would face public criticism daily. On top of that, Ole Miss Head Coach Lane Kiffin would take an old revenge from him, humiliating him on his The Paul Finebaum Show during the all-important SEC media days. It made the Buffs fans happy, especially the Buffs Athletic Director Devin Rispress, who tweeted, “Lane fired him.” Find out why!

It all started years ago from a comment an SEC analyst made on Kiffin that Finebaum might have forgotten after all these years, but Kiffin had not. In 2013, Lane Kiffin was fired from his head coaching duties at USC just five games into the season. Recalling the exact words and what went down after it, Kiffin said, “You said what a joke I was, I’m the Miley Cyrus of college football coaching and I should be fired. They looked at each other and later that night, I was fired.”

Attempting to pivot the conversation, Finebaum mentioned Cyrus’s career resurgence. However, Finebaum forgot he was arguing against the head coach, who has been a fan-favorite recently for his humor and comebacks. Staying true to his reputation, Kiffin returned with an even stronger response, saying, “Really, I don’t know what you’re good at. You predicted Coach Saban was done. That didn’t happen. You basically said Miley Cyrus stinks, and she’s still going,” Kiffin said, lambasting Finebaum. This particular revenge from the Ole Miss head coach has made waves on the internet, with top people hailing Lane Kiffin for his words, especially the Buffs fans.

Earlier this month, Finebaum thought it prudent to apologize to the coach. Amidst the flurry of messages, the SEC analyst said: “After the Alabama game, I wrote Coach Kiffin off, said he couldn’t coach. Said the Ole Miss season was going down the drain. I was wrong. So, I beg, I beg all of you, forgive me! Coach Kiffin even turned Juice after me. Ole Miss has a great team. Lane Kiffin is the best coach in college football.” He made the apology on his show on July 4. But even before the confession dropped in, Kiffin managed to keep his chill intact.

Deion Sanders Jr. also praises Coach Kiffin

Just last week, Paul Finebaum messed with Deion Sanders’ Colorado, calling them “irrelevant in college football.” Deion Sanders promptly responded to the criticism, saying, “God is good my brother & they mad mad! I sense a bit of anger & hostility. Lolololololol God bless @RGIII for always keeping it 100,” Prime said about Finebaum’s words, his response enough to enrage the Buffs masses.

Have an interesting take?

Besides Prime, his son Deion Sanders Jr. also took a jibe at Paul Finebaum, similar to Rispress. Deion Sanders Jr. was among the first to identify Kiffin’s verbal attack on Finebaum, calling him “my next favorite coach after my dad.” While this complimented Kiffin’s humor and presence of mind while taking his revenge, it was also a subtle dig at Paul Finebaum for the mean words he had said for Colorado.
