Deion Sanders is no stranger to intense trolling. He has had his fair share of allegations in his personal life as well. But the allegation of ‘manipulating’ and ‘tampering’ with a professional process? That was a first for ‘Prime Time’. The allegation was hurled by CSU Pueblo head coach Philip Vigil who is gearing up for his second season at CSU Pueblo, a Division II university.

Vigil scooped out some screenshots of someone claiming to be Colorado’s assistant director of player personnel, Devin Rispress, reaching out to an unnamed CSU Pueblo recruit to lure him to Colorado. his texts to seemingly lure the CSU Pueblo prospect away from them. The now-deleted post read,Hey @NCAA and @Big12Conference, is this considered tampering, or is Coach and @CuBuffsFootball able to recruit our current players like that.”

This is where it all gets funny. Rispress was not the one to send out the texts. The recruit was catfished, as Rispress claimed in his response to Vigil’s tweet. “Nice try. Yall been catfished, wrong guy brother. You could’ve hit me up before tweeting this and embarrassing your program,” Rispress stated, humiliating the CSU Pueblo program on social media. As a follow-up to that tweet, Vigil posted another message urging the NCAA to look into the matter and bring a solution to it.

“College athletics are changing rapidly, and it is my job to support my players and our program. I have removed my social media post to allow the NCAA to address this situation and similar behaviors in college athletics,” Vigil’s tweet read. Well, when you’re going to call out one of the most talked-about head coaches of all time, you better be right as this is not the first time Deion Sanders is dealing with a recruiting issue.

Deion Sanders and recruitment

These two words have been appearing a lot in the headlines over the past months. Colorado underwent a mass exodus at Colorado following their 4-8 season that left the locker room barren. To rise out of that precarious situation, Shilo Sanders and Shedeur Sanders took to their Instagram to resolve any queries that potential recruits might have.

It brutally backfired for the two. However, it all ended when the brothers gave a fitting response to the detractors. It was a time that Colorado was running high on recruits then, with some of the finest prospects signing up for the program. With the Spring transfer portal looming above them, it seemed like the best way for CU.

Between the conclusion of the regular season and now, Deion Sanders and Co. have stacked up their locker room pretty well, except for one player that they want, no need, in their locker room. Julian Lewis. JuJu, as he is called, is buzzing as the top replacement option for Shedeur Sanders at CU once he leaves for the NFL 2025. The touted No.2 QB in the class of 2025 has also taken considerable interest in joining the program. Will CU be able to lock down JuJu? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
