It looks like LA Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh is pulling double duty — coaching in the NFL and giving Ryan Day his daily dose of salt! On July 23, the Chargers released their hype video for the 2024 season. And guess what the ex-Michigan Wolverines came up with? The video referenced the favorite moniker that the fans have attached to Ohio State head coach Day.
A particular line in the video was enough to illuminate how Harbaugh is still pouring salt into age-old rival Day’s wounds. Of course, this did not sit well with the Buckeyes fans, who then launched their verbal attacks on the Chargers HC.

Only one thing mattered for Harbaugh when transitioning from college football to the NFL. He was lucky to carry the legacy of three back-to-back victories against Ohio State. Even though the ex-Michigan HC bagged three straight Big Ten championships along with a national championship, what mattered most was defeating Day’s program. Intentionally or not, the now Chargers HC released a hype video titled, “Sincerely, Coach Harbaugh.”

The LA Chargers HC said, “Welcome to the 2024 Chargers locker room — your football home. We want to compliment all who have earned the opportunity to get here and recognize the journey traveled to now be playing at the highest level of football.” Till this, all seemed okay until Harbaugh subtly and smartly rebooted Day’s ancient peevs. The line that stirred the pot was, “None here were born on third base, but rather had to work your way to first, and then second, and then third… We predict those who produce will stay, and we predict those who stay will be champions… We are all now on third base together, poised to bring it home.” And the Buckeyes fans are bright enough to pick up the clues.
Ohio State fans react by reading between the lines
The Ohio State fans unleashed their fury in the comment section of the On3 post. The LA Chargers HC’s master plan made a fan label Jim as “Cringe Harbaugh.” To another fan, what he says barely makes a ripple, “Who cares he’s a cheating pos.” But why, though? The fan calls him an imposter drawing parallels with the sign-stealing scandal that he was involved in.

Instead of circulating the current HC Sherrone Moore’s talents, all that the Chargers HC did was talk about his times. Hence, “I cant believe jim hates sherrone Where did their relationship sour,” commented an inquisitive fan trying to learn about their bond. Another Buckeyes fan straightaway used Jim’s rich family legacy to land an attack, “Says the son of a coach who had to have his brother give him assistants to put together a competent staff.” To fans, he comes off as incompetent for seeking his brother, Baltimore Ravens HC, John Harbaugh’s help.
The Buckeyes rivalry is something typical only of Wolverine fans. Now that coach Harbaugh has become so passionate, a fan commented, “he might be more obsessed with ryan day than most michigan fans.” Let’s hang tight to hear Day’s response to Harbaugh.
