“Dak is going to have the entire world bidding for him.” Maybe an overstatement or does Dak Prescott deserve the hype? Leading the Cowboys to 3 division titles, while also making 3 Pro Bowl appearances, Dak can be considered one of the best QBs out there. Even back on GET UP by ESPN, Former NFL CB Domonique Foxworth spoke about what was on his mind about Dak. “He’s the best quarterback in the NFL,” Foxworth had mentioned. With a 90+ PFF grade during the 2023 season (that too 4 times, something that is a first in the NFL) some people will easily agree that Dak deserves a bigger contract.

However, on the August 3rd episode of First Things First, Nick Wright explains that things might not work out between Cowboys and Dak. “The Cowboys are not going to pay Dak $65M/yr and because of that he’s going to hit free agency,” Wright mentioned. For Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, keeping Dak is gonna get crazy expensive. Currently, Dak’s annual contract value stands at around $60 million. Keeping up with this would become a rough task for Jones. Dak is predicted to have the highest payout in the league’s history with his new deal. However, amidst this entire conundrum, Arrowhead Live on X mentioned an interesting point. “Cowboys will move mountains to draft Shedeur Sanders. Jerry is a businessman first and foremost,” they mentioned. With Dak almost about the leave, will Shedeur be the next QB for the Cowboys? Well, ESPN’s Jordan Reid brought out some important information back on August 2nd.

Reid mentioned that according to an anonymous area scout, “With the Dak contract mess happening and struggling to pay their other stars, you better believe that Jerry has it in the back of his mind what the benefits of a young and cheap QB.” What Cowboys fans have always hated about Dak is the fact that he always ends up choking the playoffs. If he does manage to secure a $60 million deal, that would mean that the Cowboys would have to skip out on other players. Putting Shedeur in there just works. That kid already had a massive season back in 2023. With around 3200+ yards and 31 touchdowns and a completion rate of 69.3%. Although the Buffs went for a 4-8 run, you cannot deny the fact that the numbers Shedeur put up were amazing. Even Jerry Jones has gone on to show his faith in Shedeur becoming a top pick in the 2025 draft. “[Shedeur] may be the 1st overall pick in 2025,” Jones had mentioned. So could the Cowboys become the QBs new home or would it be somewhere else?

“It’s not a mistake that my sons would love to play for him,” is something Deion Sanders had mentioned about Raiders HC Antonio Pierce back during the Media Days. Coach Prime went as far as defending Pierce when ESPN ranked him as only the No.26 coach on the list of Top Coaches. Even Jordan Reid had mentioned that Shedeur would be the perfect addition to the Raiders. “The Las Vegas Raiders are the most obvious quarterback-needy team heading into the season,” Reid had mentioned in his scouting report.

Shedeur is a solid QB. The only area he lacks, majorly, is his ability to survive while in the pockets. He also has an amazing ability to drive the ball downfield. With proper defense and a solid O-line, if this kid is given some breathing room, he can pull out some major wins. Another point that Reid mentioned is that “Sanders’ tendency to never give in and hold the ball results in far too many sacks”. This is also something that keeps coming back to bite the young QB. If he tackles the ghosts of his past properly this season and if Dak fumbles with the Cowboys, then we could see Shedeur putting on the blue star.
