Is Travis Hunter's critique of CU offense justified, or is he just venting frustration?

The nightmare that was the 2023 season for the Colorado Buffaloes is seemingly still haunting Travis Hunter by his reaction to the recently released EA College Football 25′ game. Though Hunter is quite pleased with the fact that he’s on the cover alongside Quinn Ewers and Donovan Edwards, he wasn’t too happy with how the Colorado Buffaloes’ offensive line looked in the game, which was just too realistic to their actual offense.

The Colorado Buffaloes had a lousy season last year when they started off with a bang with 3 consecutive wins but proceeded to go downhill for the rest of their 9 games. Though Coach Prime made drastic changes to the squad with new additions, the offensive line was below sub-par, as Shedeur couldn’t make decent passes due to the consistent tackles he would receive. While both the star players of Colorado, Shedeur, and Travis, tried their hand at the video game, Travis had an all too animated reaction as he was reminded of the poor offensive record the team has had in the last season.

While playing the new EA College Football game together, Shedeur and Travis witnessed the WR losing his cool as he tried to make a run for it, frustrated by the lack of protection from the defenders of Colorado. Ironically, the QB for the team, Shedeur, was sitting right beside him and while he found the humor in the situation, Travis ended up agreeing with the scrutiny that Colorado has received about their poor offensive line in the last season.

After being tackled by the other team’s defenders, Travis was heard yelling, “HOW??” and then proceeded to answer a fan’s question from the comments, “Is the O-line realistic? Yes, it’s very realistic. They just can’t block for nothing.” Shedeur in the back was heard humorously protesting when he said, “Whatchu mean?” which is an interesting situation. It’s almost funny how Shedeur was the nation’s most sacked QB with 52 tackles last season and yet, he’s still jumping to the team’s defense over a poor offensive line. With that being said, here’s a look at how the Buffaloes have been rebuilding their O-line in preparation for this season.

Have an interesting take?

After the Colorado Buffaloes lost to the UCLA team last season, Deion Sanders addressed the poor protection of Shedeur and said, “The big picture, you go get new linemen. That’s the picture and I’ma paint it perfectly.” Now, the plan to protect Shedeur is in full blow as Deion is bringing in new powerhouses to the team.

The biggest player to come help the Colorado team in terms of protection is undoubtedly, Jordan Seaton, the 5-star OL. He chose the Colorado team over offers from Alabama, Florida, and Ohio State and when asked about his thoughts on Shedeur being the most sacked QB last year, he said, “That’ll never happen again.” Moreover, four FBS starters also committed to Colorado, namely, Yakiri Walker, Tyler Johnson, Justin Mayers, and Kahlil Benson. When it comes to the transfer portal, Deion shines brighter than any other coach and if the squad plays as well as it looks, then this team has a real shot at making the CFP playoffs this year.
