This Memorial Day weekend turned into a heartwarming reunion for Deion Sanders and his Buffs. After a fun-filled team retreat, Coach Prime hosted a cookout to celebrate the holiday. Here, the guest of honor is none other than WWE legend Bill Goldberg.

It turns out Goldberg had a short NFL stint as a defensive back in the 90s, playing with Deion for the Atlanta Falcons. Back then, “Bill Gold” was even referred to as Deion’s “ace in the hole,” as the WWE star was always there to protect the Buffs HC when a fight emerged. Reflecting on those old days, Deion Sanders even shared a funny anecdote: “We have wrestling matches every Friday… and I used to always say who vs Goldberg. Everybody put their head down, nobody wanted it and then he becomes a wrestler.” In fact, Coach Prime took credit for Goldberg’s Hall of Fame career with that one.

The next day, a crew member playfully re-enacted the locker room challenge, spotting Goldberg in the practice arena and mimicking Deion’s voice: “Anybody want Goldberg?” Everyone laughed, including Deion himself, adding, “And what everybody do?” Then, Deion and the crew member started a playful chant, shouting, “Nobody wants Goldberg? Anybody want Goldberg?”

Goldberg, ever the good sport, chimed in with a smile, saying, “I could die tomorrow and still be in the positive end of this wonderful” moment. Goldberg seemed speechless at the fun, but he’s likely to experience more of these moments because he has a special connection with the Buffs on the horizon.

Deion Sanders and Goldberg’s friendship is strengthened with Buffs’ new addition

Goldberg has a strong tie to the Colorado Buffaloes, and it’s not just because of his three-decade friendship with Deion Sanders. To strengthen their bond, he even placed his son, Gage Goldberg, under Deion in the Buffs unit. The 6-foot linebacker Gage Goldberg seems like a natural fit for the Colorado Buffaloes defense. However, Bill Goldberg originally wanted Gage to learn from legendary coach Nick Saban. But with Saban’s retirement, Goldberg says Deion Sanders was the perfect replacement.

“Now he’s taking care of my boy,” Goldberg declared at the cookout while giving his son a hug. Soon, Goldberg went on to praise Deion, stating, “My son is going to school under Deion Sanders, and I couldn’t be more appreciative and blessed. This is one of the best human beings God ever built.” Now, this has everyone hyped to see Gage play for Coach Prime soon!
