Imagine waking up and you find people on the internet claiming you ain’t on the team no more. Cormani McClain faced exactly that. Tweets like “Just received word that Cormani McClain has been removed from the University of Florida football team… WOW” started making the rounds on X real fast on 16th July. However, Gators Defensive Back coach Will Harris jumped right in to stop it all. “Not True!!!” Harris tweeted out in response to the alleged removal of McClain.
Furthermore, McClain’s agent also took to X to tweet out a response. “Information being circulated about Cormani McClain is 100% false. He is on the team and doing well. Social media is crazy.” Hector Rivas mentioned in his tweet. Social Media is truly a crazy space. Although McClain started off with Florida after struggling with the Buffs 2023 class. The entire rumor started spreading after On3’s Nick De La Torre apparently reported that McClain was last to most of the meetings and workout sessions.

While McClain has had an impact during his high school days, it is yet to be seen what he can do for the Gators. Fans already know that his transfer from the Buffs was due to him not being able to get a proper footing with the team, playing only 9 games with 13 tackles in. Gators surely hope that the former 5-star and top-ranked CB can bring in his A-game for the team.

Surprisingly, McClain received a generous 85 rating on the EA CFB25 charts. This is understandable as he shines on the defensive end. McClain’s presence in the Gators’ defense is a low-risk, high-reward scenario. The Gators’ secondary struggled last season, and McClain’s skill set is expected to address these deficiencies. Deion Sanders did present some comments when McClain’s transfer news was released.
“I pray to God that he goes to a program that challenges him, holds him accountable, and develops him as a young man. Unfortunately, we weren’t the program that could accomplish that. So, prayerfully, he understands this is his second go-round and gets it. Go get it, man. He has tremendous talent, but he has to want it,” explained Coach Prime. The transfer could ultimately be considered a loss for Colorado, as McClain could’ve helped Deion with the issues on the defense front of the team. Fans right now can only hope that he manages to shine in the Gators and perform his best in the upcoming seasons.
