Shilo Sanders vs. Cormani McClain—Who's really to blame for the fallout at Colorado?

Shilo Sanders will finally breathe a long exasperated sigh of relief. After the 2016 lawsuit forced him to file for bankruptcy, Shilo has been enduring this major financial shortcoming and now, a recent article from Athlon alleged that he actually used to assault Cormani McClain during the 2023 season. By happy chance, Cormani has come forward to clear the air and it will clear the air around Shilo’s supposed transgressions.

Cormani McClain, the former cornerback for the Colorado Buffaloes, recently announced his exit from the team this year but the youngster went out on a bang. During one of his exit interviews, he claimed that he wanted to go play for a team that focuses more on football than playing for “clicks.” These comments of his landed him in a whirlpool of backlash from the Colorado fans who attacked both him and his mother in an attempt to ridicule him. Today, the tables have turned, and it was McClain who chose to come out and protect Shilo’s reputation when he fully had the opportunity to let his career go down in the trenches by sitting it all out as a form of revenge but he showed everyone that he’s a player with a kindness to him.

On the 5th August episode of the ‘TS4T Sports Media’ show, the host went on to dissect the article that first dropped the supposed altercation between Shilo and Cormani. Fortunately, the show also covered Cormani’s reaction to the entire article, which was a comment from him that said, “Ah yo 😂🧢” which translates to the story being nothing but a lie. Even though McClain’s exit from Colorado closed the chapter on his reconciliation with the team, he still isn’t willing to fling mud on any of his former teammates, especially Shilo Sanders, who along with his father and brother, took part in the backlash against him. As for now, he seems to be thriving under Billy Napier in the Florida Gators while still deflecting stories of a troubled past in Boulder.

After surviving the wave of controversies and insults that was hurled at McClain, he came to the shore of Gainesville to play as an alligator but even now, he still has his fair share of struggles. The coaching staff doesn’t expect the former 5-star prospect to start this season, but they anticipate him showcasing his talents as a backup. Though there had been rumors about McClain’s exit from Napier’s team over his alleged discrepancies with the management, that seems to have been quashed and now the youngster seems to be working hard towards reviving a once highly-anticipated career.

Regarding the rumors that spread about McClain, the HC made an appearance during the SEC Media Days and said, “He’s doing fine. A lot of this gets blown out of proportion. He’s a young player. Obviously, we’re well aware of his history.” Before his one season with the Buffaloes, Cormani was the number 14th overall player and the top-ranked cornerback from the 2023 recruiting cycle but all of that seems to have tumbled down for the youngster and will have to work his way up to ensure that he sees the same sort of rankings as performs for the men in blue with a dire determination.
