Did Deion Sanders' press conference snub show disrespect, or was it just a harmless oversight?

Deion Sanders is having quite the rollercoaster of a birthday. The Pro Football Hall of Famer and coach is celebrating turning a year older and welcoming his first grandchild, Baby Que. Now, that’s a double joy for the Sanders clan! But the day didn’t go entirely as planned.

In a surprising twist, Deion’s special day took a rough turn after he clashed with some media outlets, sparking a lot of online chatter. Well, it seems he’s not getting much peace to enjoy his big day.

During a preseason press conference in Boulder on Friday, Deion got a bit heated when a local CBS sports reporter, Eric Christensen, tried to ask him a question. Deion refused, saying, “CBS, I’m not doing nothing with CBS. Next question.” He later clarified, “It ain’t got nothing to do with you. This is above that. I’ve got love for you. They know what they did.” OutKick quickly reposted the exchange on its X handle, commenting, “Not exactly how a head coach of a major college football program should handle media.”

But that wasn’t the only incident. Deion was clearly in no mood for media pleasantries. Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler also got the cold shoulder. When Keeler asked his first question, Deion retorted, “You don’t like us, man…like you know you don’t. Like why do you do this?” The two had a brief back-and-forth, but Deion ended it by saying it’s hard to engage with someone who “really hates you.”

The internet wasn’t pleased with Coach Prime’s aggressive approach, and now they’re firing back. What a day for Deion!

Birthday boy Deion Sanders faces internet backlash

What’s your perspective on:

Did Deion Sanders' press conference snub show disrespect, or was it just a harmless oversight?

Have an interesting take?

After OutKick posted about Deion Sanders’ tense interactions with the media, comments started pouring in, taking jabs at the Buffs head coach. One user tried a balanced approach, saying, “OK because he isn’t a HC. He is an attention seeker for himself and his children. It isn’t a bad thing to make sure your children are taken care of, however the media does their job so poorly this is what we end up with.”

The exact reason behind Deion’s issues with the media isn’t entirely clear. He hinted at some “foul play” involving CBS Sports, but he’s previously been involved in several CBS programs like 60 Minutes and has given numerous interviews. Despite this connection, CBS dealt Deion a harsh blow by ranking him 15th out of 16 Big 12 coaches, citing “six straight losses” and a failure to deliver on promises. This low ranking might explain the cold shoulder Deion gave today.

The internet, however, isn’t buying it. One user commented, “The worst of the worst! Embarrassment to the game and the coaching profession. Meanwhile, the culture he’s building is a complete disaster!!!!” Another simply called him “Coach Hitler,” while another took it further, saying, “Coach Prime is an entitled a**hole.” This isn’t the first time Deion has clashed with the media. In 2021, while coaching at Jackson State, he walked out of a press conference when a reporter called him by his first name, demanding respect. As one user said, “The 🤡 show continues in Boulder.”

Well, Deion is definitely a character, and his honesty is refreshing. But right now, his all-out attack on the media is making him look bad.
