A constant challenge is what Xavier Weaver needed to better his already impressive records. The University of South Florida native caught 100 passes for 1,735 yards and eight touchdowns across four seasons (2019-2022) at USF, a commendable production for any wide receiver. But his reservations regarding the limitations got the best of him, one reason prompting him to make a move to Colorado for his final year. Safe to say, Weaver made a wise choice as now, he’s the first Buff of the Deion Sanders era to be invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.
It was a reason enough to be proud of Deion Sanders and Co. and Xavier Weaver surely didn’t hold it back when highlighting the importance of Colorado in his journey to the NFL Scouting Combine. “Coming from USF and stuff like that, a lot of people probably said the competition level wasn’t there, or we weren’t really playing anybody,” Weaver said. “I’d say, in the most humble way possible, coming to another school helped me realize that I am who I say I am.”

Moreover, it was the ultimate thrust that his time with Deion Sanders and the skills he learned during it gave him that became the highlight of his 2023 season. ” The opportunities that’s been put in front of me, I feel like I’ve taken advantage of them to the fullest,” Weaver admitted. “Coming to Colorado put me in that light and taught me a lot. It taught me about perseverance, teamwork, and stuff like that.”

Safe to say, it was a win-win for both Sanders and Xavier Weaver. The addition of a 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver was the massive addition that Buffs’ offense needed. And the wager put on Weaver paid off as the WR led the team with his 68 receptions for 908 yards and 4 touchdowns in the last season. He also became a go-to for Shedeur Sanders, as Travis Hunter missed quite a lot of games in the season. Now that he’s all set on entering the pro league, there is one franchise that has all of Xavier Weaver’s attention.
Xavier Weaver’s dream team
If there is one franchise that has all the attention from Weaver, it’s the Baltimore Ravens. Xavier Weaver has chosen the Ravens’ after considering their need for an electrifying receiver with their dynamic QB Lamar Jackson.

“I like watching Lamar because if I played quarterback, that’s how I’d play. That’s a quarterback I’d definitely want to play with,” Weaver said about Jackson. Another option for him would be Texas if his first priority cannot be fulfilled. If not with Jackson, then Weaver believes that he would make an explosive pair with CJ Stroud.
