Standing at 6 foot 1 and weighing 180 pounds, Weaver had an outstanding 2023 season for Colorado. He made 68 receptions for 908 yards and scored four touchdowns, making him the go-to target for quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Even when Colorado faced off against the top two passing defenses in the Pac-12, namely Oregon and UCLA, Weaver showcased his productivity and amassed a total of 161 yards on 14 receptions, averaging 11.5 yards per catch.
Despite Weaver’s impressive statistics, there were concerns about Colorado’s offensive discord throughout the season. Shedeur Sanders recently spoke to DNVR about how the frequent use of choice routes led to indecisiveness from both him and his receivers. Weaver himself acknowledged the challenges, citing moments of indecisiveness stemming from frequent choice routes and a lack of synchronicity between him and his fellow receivers.
“We definitely had a lot of option routes,” Weaver explained, “and like he[Shedeur] said, it is kind of hard to get timing and stuff like that. Maybe if I was there from the spring, we would have been more connected.” Nevertheless, he remained a consistent force and illustrated his resilience amidst adversity, making himself the most consistent offensive player after Shedeur and earning him an invitation to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

He aspires to play for either the Baltimore Ravens or the Houston Texans. His ambitions mirror his on-field tenacity and are a testament to his determination to carve a path to success in the professional realm. “If I play with Lamar (Jackson), that’s a quarterback I’d definitely want to play with,” Weaver said. “I like watching Lamar because if I played quarterback, that’s how I’d play. I’d run it way more though. I’d also say the Texans, and they’re a young team, I feel like they’re a good team as well.”
As Weaver’s collegiate chapter draws to a close, his legacy at Colorado resonates not only in his statistics but also in the resilience and determination he displayed amidst the complexities of the gridiron. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
