The initial hype machine surrounding Colorado’s strong start to the season has lost its steam. The Buffaloes have faced a string of setbacks, losing four of their last seven games. After their recent 34-31 defeat to Arizona, Coach Deion Sanders issued an apology to fans for the team’s performance which has been far below what was anticipated or hoped for. To remain playoff eligible the Buffaloes need to with both the remaining regular season matches.

As we approach Saturday’s matchup of the Buffaloes against the Washington State Cougars at Martin Stadium, the Buffaloes have a 36.8% chance of winning, while the Cougars are at 63.2%. Ahead of what might be considered the Buffaloes’ most important match of the season, Colorado’s 6′ 4 295-pound defensive back delivers some interesting verdicts on a comparison between the team’s star quarterback, and Deon’s son, Shedeur Sanders, and Cougars’ star performer.

There has been considerable talk regarding potential similarities in play between Shedeur Sanders and Washington State’s quarterback Cam Ward. When Amari McNeill was asked about his opinion, the young athlete did not even hesitate before answering, not really, I feel like Shedeur is the better quarterback.” In a 42-39 loss to Cal, QB Cam Ward completed 35 of 60 passes for three touchdowns and one interception (a Hail Mary). Despite leading the Cougars’ rally, he had three fumbles, with two returned for touchdowns by the Golden Bears.

While during Colorado’s home finale against Arizona, Shedeur Sanders achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 10,000 passing yards in his college career with a 12-yard pass to tight end Michael Harrison. He also joined an elite group in Colorado history, becoming one of the few QBs, along with Sefo Liufau (2014) and Koy Detmer (1996), to reach 3,000 passing yards in a single season. This only reestablished what defensive back Amari McNeill suggested. Deion Sanders had suggested that both his sons will be appearing for the NFL Draft in 2025 and not 2023. Shedeur recently opened up about it in an interview.

“Things could change things”: Shedeur breaks silence on 2023 NFL Draft

As many have acknowledged the first overall NFL Draft pick of 2023 is most likely to be Caleb Williams. However, Coach Prime believes Shedeur is ready to play second fiddle to none, nor is he a “backseat rider.” Currently, Shedeur stands as a possible top-10 pick if he declares for the draft this year. But Prime Time suggests he returns to college instead, this would enable him to solidify COlorado’s team, allow Shedur the possibility to become the No.1 pick, and also give his brother Shilo enough time to generate draft interest. However, Shedeur pointed out the uncertainty that governs the lives of footballers and coaches alike.

“It’s just too much going on in right now to even be thinking about declaring and going to the league or not, cause it week by week things could change things, anything could happen,” the young quarterback opined. He seconds Coach Prime’s suggestion to delay declaring for the draft and instead focuses on becoming a ‘perfectionist’ who tries to “win each and every game and do what you can for the team,”
