Was 2023 the best season for the Colorado Buffs? Certainly not. They have seen better days; but for now, HC Deion Sanders turned a defeated 1-11 record team to be a worthy Pac-12 competitor. Things, both ugly and optimistic, have reached Sanders since he left JSU in 2022. But there is an associate who has been a “ride-or-die” since his JSU days. And that is an athletic trainer, whose everyday treatment for Sanders’s legs has let the Buffs pursue their Prime-effect vision—Lauren Askevold.

Coach Prime trusts Lauren with his life, plain and simple. “He’s sitting in the room and he’s listening but he knows I know what questions to ask, what questions are basically getting to the point,” Askevold said, in the context of his medical visits. When Deion was in the hospital, who was there alongside his ex-fiance Tracey Edmonds, it was Lauren again. She talks the talk and walks the walk. So, when Askevold had to say something bold about the next season, let’s hear it.

On December 27, Lauren Askevold shoots a straight answer. “12-0” is her prediction for 2024. Many may call it pretty ambitious. But Buffs fans are just as much hyped. However, will the team walk the talk?

The 2024 schedule will see the Buffs playing against teams like Nebraska, Colorado State, North Dakota, and many more. Though it’s not going to be an easy journey, with all of Coach Prime’s newest transfers, fans expect a better second season for Sanders. A team like Nebraska can give the Buffs tough competition, as they will look for redemption. After all, CB defeated them at the beginning of this season during their three-game winning streak. In fact, with the first three out of four rival teams—Nebraska, Arizona, and Colorado State—the Buffs were able to show a successful sprint at the start of the 2023 season.

The tragedy that was 2023 culminated and reached its final destination with Buffs losing to Utah. And it must have been hard. Why? The loss to Utah was the last of Buffs’ six-game losing streak to close the 2023 chapter. Rubbing salt in his wound, his son-starting QB, Shedeur, was sacked 52 times, coupled with arm and ankle injuries, and was out of the final game of the season for the first time since his high school days. “It wasn’t easy,” Deion Sanders said at the end of that week.

Clearly, Colorado Buffaloes will need to fill in all the gaps within its team and be ready for the next season. It seems he has already started playing his cards right.

The Colorado Buffaloes’ newest transfers will change the state of the team

Deion Sanders is known to pay a lot of attention when it comes to the transfer portal. Upon his arrival in Colorado, he added over 86 new transfers to the team and shocked the world of college football. And now he’s managed to attract one of the best prospects in the nation with just his determination and his passion for the team.

Jordan Seaton, the No. 1 offensive tackle recruit, announced his decision to commit to Colorado. This should improve the Buffaloes’ pass protection. The 5-star athlete had offers on the table from several teams like Florida, Maryland, Ohio, etc. but chose Colorado because of Coach Prime’s influence.

Other players who transferred to the team include Destin Wade, Preston Hodge, Cordale Russell, and many more who are yet to arrive. It’s evident that Colorado is getting in new talents, but will it be enough for Coach Prime to lead the team all the way to a successful 2024 season? After all, they are looking to upgrade their offensive line so that they can successfully move to the Big 12.
