As Xavier Weaver transferred from the University of South Florida and joined Colorado for the last season, he recently shot to headline being the first Buffs in Coach Prime’s era to be making his way to the NFL Combine. The wide receiver yet again gained attention by expressing his confidence about the bright prospects of Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur, after being exposed to a positive experience in Colorado.

However, this revelation has not been surprising for the fans since the coach had already been upfront about the high prospects of his quarterback son. In the meantime, Weaver has had a smooth transition into the Buffaloes squad.  

Anticipations run high for Shedeur Sanders

Entering the Buffaloes, Weaver turned out to be Shedeur’s primary target in Boulder. The unexpected synergy between the quarterback and wide receiver exposed Weaver to receiving the exclusive invitation to the 2024 NFL Combine. Meanwhile, Travis appeared for an interview where he seemed assured of Shedeur’s upcoming prospects.

In a short clip shared on X, the WR confidently claimed,He definitely will be a first round, for sure”. Weaver seemed to have been rallying Coach Prime’s words as revealed in the coach’s podcast with Lawrence Taylor. During the interview, Sanders’ optimistic stance about Shedeur came forward, “Shedeur is arguably the first pick of the whole draft.”

Even though Deion Sanders and Weavers stand way apart in terms of their expertise, they have been able to assess the quarterback closet. Having watchful eyes on his son being the coaching maestro and being part of the same team, both their assumptions align closely. Meanwhile, the Buffs ensured that Weavers had a hassle-free onboarding.

Lessons learned by Weaver

Before stepping into the Buffaloes squad, Weaver had already amassed 100 catches for 1,735 yards and eight touchdowns within his tenure between 2019 and 2022. However, he decided to make a pivotal move from USF to Colorado in his last year. Reiterating his journey, the wide receiver stated, “Coming from USF and stuff like that, a lot of people probably said the competition level wasn’t there, or we weren’t really his playing anybody,”

However, for Weaver, it has been an enlightening experience all together, being under the tutelage of Deion Sanders. He further admitted, “Coming to Colorado put me in that light and taught me a lot. It taught me about perseverance, teamwork, and stuff like that.” He expressed his gratitude as he emerged as a better player for all the essential qualities required to bolster the Buffs’ offense.
