Did the Colorado Buffaloes just make the biggest blunder by excluding this rising star from fall camp?

Colorado Buffaloes’ O-line star calls out ‘fake news’! Deion Sanders brought in offensive lineman Ethan Boyd to the team right after the spring transfer portal opened this year. Standing at 6’7″ and weighing 325 lbs, Boyd joined in April and immediately grabbed everyone’s attention, making the Buffs’ O-line a hot topic.

This OL was a three-star talent from Michigan State, and fans were hoping he’d be the missing piece to protect the quarterback. But then, boom! Just days before fall camp, news broke that Boyd wouldn’t be joining the team. Now this news came from Buffs beat writer Brian Howell who tweeted, “Colorado opening camp on Monday with 109 players, including 77 scholarship players. One expected transfer who won’t be joining the team is Ethan Boyd.”

People were confused with Boyd’s move and one fan even asked Howell the reason behind the OL’s absence. And get this, Howell said, “I was told he decided to retire from football.” This news came as a shocker, and it soon spread like wildfire. But hold on, now comes the official confirmation! Ethan Boyd himself saw the news and posted on his Instagram story, “This is fake news.”

So, it turns out he didn’t retire, but he’s still not with the team. Now, we don’t know yet the reason behind this snub. Maybe he’ll come back to Colorado, or maybe he’ll transfer to another school.

However, losing Boyd is sure a big deal. With a PFF grade of 60.5 for his blocking skills last year, it looked like Colorado’s quarterback was about to be super protected. But hey, at least Deion Sanders has a bunch of other offensive linemen to work with. So, while it’s a setback, the Buffs’ offensive line still looks pretty solid.

Colorado Buffaloes have built a new offensive wall

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Colorado Buffaloes just make the biggest blunder by excluding this rising star from fall camp?

Have an interesting take?

Last year was quite a nightmare for Shedeur Sanders. He got sacked a ridiculous 52 times. And Deion knew he had to do something, so he made fixing the offensive line his top priority. He said it himself, “The big picture, you go get new lineman. That’s the picture, and I’ma paint it perfectly.” And this year, he did deliver. All the five starters from that sorry O-line entered the transfer portal and Coach Prime soon brought in a bunch of new guys. We’re talking about big, strong dudes.

The average size of the new Colorado Buffaloes linemen is like 6’4″ and almost 300 pounds! That’s a wall of meat to protect the team’s quarterback. And let’s not forget about the two big-time recruits, Jordan Seaton and Kahlil Benson, who joined last year’s end.

But it’s not just about the players. Deion also got smart by hiring Phil Loadholt and Pat Shurmur as coaches to call the offensive plays. So, even though there’s still some drama with Ethan Boyd, the overall picture for Colorado’s O-line is looking pretty good.
