Catch the Buffs on the big screen as the Colorado Buffaloes‘ new TV schedule is out here! Despite a middling 4-8 record last year, Deion Sanders brought the drama in 2023. His arrival magnetized viewers, turning even a mediocre season into a must-watch spectacle.

This year’s schedule promises more of the same captivating action. The season kicks off with a nationally televised clash against North Dakota on ESPN on August 29th. Remember the epic “Rocky Mountain Showoff” with Colorado State last year?  That game, fueled by the banter between Coach Prime and CSU’s Jay Norvell, became the most-watched ESPN college football game in history, drawing a whopping 9.3 million viewers.

However, this year, the “Rocky Mountain Showoff” rematch with Colorado State won’t be on ESPN. Instead, CBS will broadcast the game on September 14th at 5:30 MT. Likewise, the highly anticipated Nebraska rivalry game takes place a week earlier, on September 7th, but on NBC Sports at the same time (5:30 MT).

In fact, their November calendar is also set with the Oklahoma State match airing on ABC. This Thanksgiving morning showdown (10 AM MT) is guaranteed to draw a huge audience, not just because of the rivalry, but because it falls on a major holiday.

Now, Deion’s impressive roster changes, and the buzz surrounding the Buffs training camp have all the major sports networks scrambling for a piece of the action.  They’re all hoping for record viewership from the “Coach Prime” phenomenon.  Interestingly, Fox seems to be the only major network missing out on the hype. Will Deion and the Buffs miss out on “Fox Luck” this season?

Deion Sanders’ team breaks the record for Fox Sports

The rivalry between the Colorado Buffaloes and Nebraska Cornhuskers stretches back for years, with both teams trading blows throughout history.  Last year, the matchup held even more weight with Deion Sanders’ debut season as Buffaloes coach. After a thrilling win against TCU in their first game, all eyes were on the highly anticipated clash with Nebraska.

The Fox Sports broadcast of the game lived up to the hype, with the Buffaloes dominating the Cornhuskers 36-14.  This viral victory drew a massive 8.73 million viewers, which was in fact a significant jump from previous weeks by 1.5 million. And it also made it to Fox’s best-ever Pac-12 regular season game.  It even cracked the network’s top 10 most-watched college football games of all time.

Now, with no more Buffs matches on Fox, the media giant might feel a financial sting from missing out on such viral moments. Some even wonder if Fox might have been a lucky charm for Deion’s success. Will he prove his team’s the true force this year, or will another network claim the “Fox Luck” title?
