Can Gage Goldberg live up to his dad's wrestling legacy if football doesn't work out?

The day doesn’t seem too far away when the son of Goldberg will also make his entrance through a wild fireworks show, just like his father once did. Ever since Gage Goldberg signed on with Coach Prime, who is a dear friend of his, the expectations have been high from the youngster and as such; he revealed his backup plan in case football doesn’t work out for him and it might just involve the wrestling ring.

Bill Goldberg and Deion Sanders were teammates back during their days with the Atlanta Falcons. Though both played the DT positions, Deion superseded Goldberg by miles on the gridiron, but the pair shared a close friendship, regardless. It is perhaps because of their friendship that Gage committed to the Colorado Buffs this year. However, when asked about an alternate career path apart from football, Gage would want to become wrestling great like his father, as was the case with Scott Steiner and his nephew, Bronson Rechsteiner who left the Baltimore Ravens to pursue a career in the WWE.

On the 6th July episode of the ‘F*** Ya’ll’ podcast, CT Fletcher invited Bill Goldberg and his son to talk about the journey that Gage will soon undertake to join Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes to start his college football career. Later, Fletcher asked if Gage could ever pursue wrestling, and maybe the fans could witness a match between him and Bronson Rechsteiner someday.

To which Gage replied by carefully thinking of his answer and said, “I mean it’s definitely a backup plan. Football’s priority right now, [if] that doesn’t work, I’m majoring in real estate at Colorado right now, so we’re gonna try to do real estate and then if all else fails, Goldberg junior wrestling.” Thus, it looks like Gage is all set with his career plans, and who knows? Maybe if he doesn’t have a dynamic career on the gridiron, we’ll get to witness the legacy of Goldberg being continued by Gage. One thing is for certain, if Gage does end up deciding to pursue wrestling after a failed college football career, Deion will be in full support of it, as he once was for his friend and WWE Hall of Famer, Bill Goldberg.

There is no denying the fact that Goldberg will go down as one of the most entertaining wrestlers to ever step foot into the ring. From being the staunch rival of the NWO to making a return and throwing the beast incarnate, Brock Lesnar, all around the ring, he has done it all. But when did he decide he wanted to be a pro wrestler? Surprisingly enough, it was the locker room of the Atlanta Falcons where the team would wrestle each other, and every time, it was Bill who would come out as the victor.

In one of the videos released by Well Off Media, Goldberg attended the cookout hosted by the Buffaloes and in it, the former teammates engaged in a nostalgic conversation about their past. During this, Goldberg was heard saying, “I guess I have to give him 100 percent credit for me being a professional wrestler. Cause I never would have done it.” It was Deion’s influence that gave Goldberg one of the greatest opportunities to claim the WCW World Heavyweight Championship by besting Hulk Hogan. And now that both their sons play in the same team, their friendship and camaraderie are set to grow at a stronger pace.
