The Colorado prodigy has a bright future ahead of him in the NFL but the questions about his competence do arise – can Shedeur perform as well for a coach who is not his father? With so much hype around the youngster QB, he will have to set an example in this upcoming season, hoping to prove the doubts wrong.
Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, outperformed most of his teammates last season. Both he and Travis Hunter were the exceptions in a team that couldn’t garner more than 4 wins in their overall 12 games. Now, he is predicted to be a top-3 pick in the NFL Draft of 2025 but the fans are curious to see if he’ll be able to showcase his talent well under a new coach, who is not used to the way Deion trained him.

Dane Brugler, the senior NFL Draft analyst for NFLDraftScout.com, revealed that Georgia’s Carson Beck, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders would most likely end up as the top 3 picks. But since Shedeur has seen most of his glory with Coach Prime, this is the hesitancy that a fan brought up regarding Shedeur’s NFL career.
The best thing Shedeur Sanders could’ve done is transfer out of Colorado for next season. A fan emphasized a potential reality where Shedeur could’ve transferred to another team for his last year of eligibility, wanting to show his talent under any other coach who is not Deion. He wrote, “The best thing Shedeur Sanders could’ve done is transfer out of Colorado for next season. He needs to prove he can play for someone other than his dad, otherwise that’s going to be one of the big question marks on him heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. How will he respond to a head coach who’s not his dad?” Thus, questions continue to come to light which question his credibility as a QB outside the world of Boulder.
With that being said, had Shedeur declared for the NFL Draft, he would’ve been right behind the likes of Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, according to an NFL GM.

The QB made a bold decision to stay back for yet another year in Colorado to aid his father in the team’s redemption arc after the disastrous 2023 season. Moreover, several NFL scouts believe he could’ve gone on to be a top-3 pick in this year’s draft if not for his decision to stay at the Boulder.

As per the Washington Post, an anonymous NFL scout had mighty words of praise for the Colorado player in terms of his draft stock. Additionally, he would have either been picked by the Patriots, the Giants, or the Cardinals due to the astonishing talent that he showcased during the 2023 season when he recorded over 3,230 passing yards and finished 27 touchdowns, while also being a notable Heisman contender before losing out to LSU’s Jayden Daniels.
Also, ESPN talked about Shedeur last year and said, “Many NFL scouts agree the Colorado quarterback is right below Williams and Maye.” Thus, now that he has one last season to drastically increase his draft stock, he will have to ensure that the team is led diligently, to make a name for himself as a probable first pick in next year’s draft.
