Is Coach Prime's influence enough to keep his prodigy safe from a comedian's playful threats?

Coach Prime found a new placekicker most unexpectedly! Remember “Neon Deion,” the flashy MLB outfielder from the ’90s? Deion wasn’t coaching football this past weekend but leading a team in Texas’s MLB All-Star Weekend celebrity softball game. His National League team even got a close 12-10 win.

Overall, it was a star-studded event with actors, influencers, and even the famous comedian from Saturday Night Live, Marcello Hernandez. Marcello, a huge baseball fan, got to catch some throws with Deion, and that’s where things got interesting.

On July 14, Deion posted a funny video on social media where Marcello’s seen bragging about his footwork, saying, “Look at that, that’s my feet, bro. Crazy feet bro, fast.” Deion soon asks if he wants to be a receiver for the Buffs. That’s when Marcello, totally joking, says, “Whatever you need coach. I still have got three years eligibility, I can kick it far coach.” Looks like a sure threat to the Buffs kicker!

Deion, clearly impressed, turns to his well-liked kicker, Alejandro Mata, and says, “I got somebody that wants to take your job, He told me he wants to kick, he can dance, he can soccer…and more than anything, he’s good with his feet.” Marcello jumps in, adding, “I’m good with my feet, I played college soccer in college, But listen, buddy, I could take your job. But even if I don’t, I support you.” Buffs’ placekicker Alejandro Mata commented on the video with a laugh, “Never been scared of sum competition.”

Coach Prime had a busy Sunday! Leading the National League to a win and landing a new placekicker in the MLB All-Star softball game was just the start. He also unveiled some hot new sneakers amidst all the hoopla. Deion Sanders stole the show with his unreleased black and white Nike kicks as he gave it a peek. They’re the upcoming “White/Black” colorway of his retro Air DT Max ’96s, similar to his previous “Coach Prime” edition; just the colors flipped.

Remember those teases on social media for a while? Yep, those are them! They’re hitting stores in September, which is perfect timing for the Buffs amidst the Big 12 season. To hype it further, the Colorado Buffaloes head coach even wore them with his #21 jersey during the MLB game for some extra kick.

It sounds like another sell-out is on the way. Fans who want these retro sneakers better be quick.
