What happens when a defensive end goes against the notorious “Quarterback Killer”? The Hall of Famer goes down like a sack of potatoes, is what. Warren Sapp was a name that used to strike fear in the hearts of opponents since he was known to be a ruthless player in the NFL. From giving NFL players concussions with his tackles to being thrown to the ground by a 21-year-old, Sapp has seen it all.

Warren Sapp, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star and Hall of Famer, was recruited by Deion Sanders this year to join the Colorado Buffaloes. He joined the staff as an assistant graduate coach, who will play a big role in helping the team improve its defensive maneuvers. As for now, the fans are demanding Deion have better safety measures for Warren Sapp ever since the tackle of B.J. Green sent him flying down to the ground.

During the Colorado session on August 1, the players were seen training hard and meticulously with Warren Sapp. In one such instance, the transfer from ASU B.J. Green plowed through Sapp as a challenge and made the 51-year-old coach lie flat on the ground. Though he didn’t suffer any serious injuries, Sapp had to take a minute and was seen rubbing his left shoulder before he got back up.

A user named “Clarence Hill Jr” took to X to react to the viral video of the incident and made a plea on behalf of the Hall of Famer DT. He wrote, “@DeionSanders protect Sapp please. Lol.” Though Deion has yet to respond to the video, everyone should rest assured that the HC wouldn’t let any harm befall his close friend and someone with whom he has such a long history. Moreover, here’s a look at when Deion first announced that Sapp would be coming to Boulder and being a vital addition to the team.

Deion Sanders and his warm welcome for Warren Sapp

The Buffs fans were ecstatic when they learned of Sapp’s signing with the team. For someone who’s been a four-time All-Pro and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame just six years after his retirement, Sapp didn’t hesitate to join forces with his dear friend Deion Sanders and lead his team to glory.

During an episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Deion announced that the former DT would join the staff as an assistant graduate coach. That desire to coach is the sole reason Sapp went on striving for a diploma. Deion talked about this and said, “To see him go get his diploma, because I know what he wants to do, he wants to coach on this staff and he wants to be a part of this staff. And he is going to be a part of this staff.”

Coach Prime added that the OL on the team would gain priceless input from him, and he would end up inspiring the players. He said, “Even the offensive linemen, they glean from him too because he’s so thought-provoking that he can tell them, ‘Don’t let the defensive lineman get you at that point or this point or this point.’ I think he’s that — he’s a wealth of knowledge and he’s hilarious, man.” Thus, even if Sapp continues to go down on the green a few more times, he won’t be too enraged about it since this is something he’s been wanting to do quite desperately, and with or without Deion’s protection, he’ll continue to aspire to be a better coach.
